Yet we're going to keep Mahomes on the bench for "at least" two seasons?

If he's not ready we do

Nothing is more important for this organization than to develop Mahomes successfully. Absolutely nothing.

This "analysis" from the same dumbshit who sees Bubble Screen Alex Smith as a "franchise QB".

Enough said.

Agreed.

Now, that being said, do you REALLY think they're going to give up next year's first round pick on a guy that they aren't absolutely sure is going to be ready to go in 2018? Honestly?

I would assume that they think he will be ready to go faster than that but you can never predict what ends up happening.

Andy Reid is 59.

He's not drafting a goddamn 2-year project.

Are you done being delusional for the day?

There is absolutely no difference between John Dorsey and Andy Reid selecting a QB and the fans and media who have long known that Alex was a stop-gap at best.
The Chiefs and their more intelligent football fans are finally in lock-step together.

And yes, I will continue to chastise the idiot who believes otherwise.

And thank God Almighty that the "entertainment" is now out of the stone age and has elected to become relevant in the modern NFL, even though certain idiotic elements of the fan base would have been perfectly happy continuing to bring in FA scrub after scrub while drafting fatties every year to protect the latest piece of shit.

It was a long fucking war, but by God we never quit and now stand victorious.

HUZZAH, BITCHES!

Dorsey loves Alex, he even goes on to say he's the 4th most successful QB in the league since he joined the Chiefs.
In Reid's press conference for the Mahomes pick, he says the kid has "A lot of work to do...far from game ready" and when asked about Alex Smith he said "there's going to be a day Alex isn't going to play anymore and you're going to need someone to step in and go." There is no indication they are in a hurry to move on from Alex. As long as we have a better season than 2016, Alex is the starter in 2018. This talk of superbowl or bust for Smith is the stupidest **** this side of the Mississippi. We all knew a QB was coming, but this premature claim that Mahomes is already running the franchise is plain dumb.

A year is an eternity in the NFL, doofus. Alex Smith is a dead man walking.

Will you get off Smith's dick already? If he is playing in 2018 we won't know for almost a year so who gives a damn.

Just enjoy watching your boy for 2017, the clock is ticking.

And whether he is starting now or not, Mahomes is the face that runs the place now. No one will think of Alex before they think of Mahomes now regarding the Chiefs.

Ware and West fell off IMHO because they are not elite backs and "need" either an easier schedule for our o-line or an elite o-line of which we do not have.

IF and this is a BIG IF our o-line really steps it up a few notches in both the pass and especially the run game, I can assure you because of the Mahomes pick Alex will be more trusting thus more aggressive in his play this year and probably more successful on a consistent basis especially IF we make it to the AFC championship game or SB. And if that's the case then Mahomes will sit 18 as well IMHO because how do you sit a QB that got you that far as well as Dorsey/Reid touting "see giving up 2-2nd rd picks was worth it" stroking their egos justifying bringing in AS. And didn't AS already say he would restructure his contract for the future ??

It really comes down to our o-ine stepping it up a few levels this year with even a tougher schedule than last year. Tall order for sure but who knows? But one thing for sure this is really the first year AS has ever had any competition that he will not face but "face indirectly" as a statement without being made that he can't get us to the promised land and this will be a chip on his shoulder for sure in 17 and why I think he gets more aggressive. But AS will only be as successful as the o-line allows him to be where Mahomes can compensate for that with his arm and athletic talent and this is the difference between AS and PMII. AS needs all cylinders hitting on offense were PMII does not IMHO.

Competition is always better even when you know you will be the starter all year especially in this situation(apart from injury of course) !!!:-)
Great post that's consistent with Reid/Dorsey's thinking. :-)

All the small-minded morons on here who think we can just dump or trade Smith after what we had to trade to get him and with how he helped stabilize this franchise have no god damn clue about football. Especially since he was underpaid the first 2 years he was with us. His ability to tutor PMII will be invaluable.

Let Tiger have his delusions. This time next year his world will crumble and the Mahomes era begins

There is no way they are doing this planning to get no return on two straight first rounders until the third year. Be realistic guys

if by dead man walking, you mean he will be a 34 year old, beyond wealthy young dude that retires... spend his days enjoying luxury life with wife and kids?

Yep... dead man walking. :-)
