The last 12 years of each of their careers - that's about 3/4 of Marino's 17 and Elway's 16 years - were strikingly similar statistically (though of course Elway won two Super Bowls).

No brdempsey, I'm talking about ^^^ that post I just made, proving Elway and Marino's last 12 years were statistically VERY similar.
Elway though, of course won those two Super Bowls, and started five, so he was clearly the better quarterback overall, despite Marino of course WINNING BY A MILE The statistics battle their first 5 years. But just like Aaron Rodgers - There's no argument who's the best quarterback of the three.

Wrong again. Elway's all-time SB record is 0 wins, 3 losses, and 2 gifted to him as going-away presents, because Elway wasn't good enough to win any SB in legit fashion on a level playing field, as evidenced by SB's 21, 22, and 24, along with all his other playoff losses, especially the loss to the Jags in 1996.
And Rodgers & Marino are better QB's as they did throw the football better than Elway (the overhead camera doesn't lie in that regard). [Reply]
First off, as I pointed out, their regular season records are identical. And, playoff are just one of numerous factors to consider. And now let’s consider two QBs with the same number of years, career starts and re season records, plus:
PLAYER #1 goes 1-4 in Ch-ship games, plays one SB, has six ‘one-and-dones’ in 11 Playoff seasons, 3 Leaghas GREAT STATS! PLAYER #2 goes 5-2 in Ch-ship games, 2-3 in SBs, just 3 ‘one-and-dones,’ NFL MVP, SB MVP, but just pedestrian stats. AND he retires with the most wins ever and most Super Bowl starts ever …….
Obviously PLAYER #2 is the Winner!
