Nzoner's Game Room>*****The Kingsley Suamataia Thread*****
Dante84 07:20 PM 04-26-2024
More to come!

Man!!!! I love Andy Reid. The @Chiefs and Andy Reid are offensive line savants. Kingsley Suamataia has big time potential. I think he he can be awesome guard or tackle. Just needs a little technique work. He is an aggressive killer who is great athlete.

— Chris Simms (@CSimmsQB) April 27, 2024

Kingsley Suamataia is a versatile offensive tackle who split his 1,300 career snaps at BYU almost exactly down the middle between left and right tackle.

My favorite line from Dane Brugler's draft guide: "He delivers more pancakes than Denny's"

Kingsley Suamataia since 2022:

701 pass-blocking snaps
24 QB pressures allowed
2 sacks allowed

.@Chiefs @BYUfootball #KingsleySuamataia lots to like; lots to work with. #GoCougs have been turning out OLineman over past 4 years. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/4yDc6HYI6i

Kingsley Sumataia | OT | BYU

Traitsy OT w/ great size+athleticism+strengt. Easy range in the run game to pull or climb to landmarks or hit set points in slide. Patient hand usage to stay square and trust his lateral agility. Pad level & overall technique should develop in NFL. pic.twitter.com/p9zOJEuMkr

The @Chiefs just selected Kingsley Suamataia, who is 6'5" and 326 lbs and can do this ⬇️

I just know that if we continue to have the same level of play at LT, Mahomes might not finish the season. I know that sounds dramatic, but Morris is really bad, and Mahomes already has a bad ankle.

Also, when watching the All-22, LT is the spot that appears to hinder the offense the most, on pass plays and running plays, although not as much on running plays.
Define "really bad"

To me, Cam Erving was really bad. Morris isn't close to playing that poorly.

Cam Erving allowed 26 pressures and 5 sacks in 9 games as the starting LT.

Wanya Morris has allowed 43 pressures and 5 sacks in 12 games as the starting LT.

They're both pretty fucking rotten.

They're not moving the RT to the LT midseason. It's not gonna happen, it's a dumb talking point.

We've had discussions here alot about this, but fellas, this is just what you get with drafting "LT's" in the late 2nd/3rd etc. Most of them......are probably G's.

The league has figured a few positions out pretty well about when and where to draft them. LT and DE's are pretty figured out.

Okay? So draft one higher.

This mentality of 'aw shucks, we aren't going to do any better so just accept it' is fucking stupid. Mahomes plays to a significantly lower standard relative to his norm when he has bad OT play. Hell, EVERY QB does. There's a reason LTs are by far the most important position on the OL and arguably the second most important overall.

We probably have the best overall interior OL in football, and it means fuck all when Mahomes is getting happy feet and bailing out of pockets almost immediately because he has no trust (rightfully so) in Morris.

If Suamataia is developing as he should be, fine, give him the season to learn and start him next season. However, if he's still struggling, they'd better pivot and figure something else out. Morris is not a viable long term option. He's currently tracking to be one of the worst overall starting OTs in football.

Odds are ANY LT we drafted even if we went up in the first round was going to suck, man

Every time people say this I remind them that LT is the 2nd hardest position to fill on the roster after QB and good LT’s rarely if ever fall past pick 15, so it would be impossible for us to get one u less we give up an insane haul.

But there is a pivot finally and it’s Cam Robinson. They need to determine if Kingsley is a LT this year bc Robinson is a good LT that we haven’t had since Eric Fisher.

He’ll be a FA in March

Extrapolate his 12 game rate of pressures allowed out into a full 17 game season and he's on pace to allow over 60 pressures. That's overall league worst tier.

Yeah, Ok sure. I'm fine with that, I'd guess they would be to.

There's not alot of those guys sitting around at 31.....

Don't think anyone has accepted anything, it's just reality. They're gonna have to keep swinging at developing and see what sticks.

Guyton went late R1 to Dallas and he has been pretty awful.

You aren't getting sure things at LT no matter when you pick them, let alone late R1.

I'd gladly give up a haul to move up into the early to mid teens for an LT. I've wanted them to do it for a long time now. Really wanted Slater and he turned out to be All Pro caliber off the rip. Unfortunately the useless bumpkins on the Chargers have permanently altered his career trajectory with their mismanagement.

Now that we have a QB.....I don't think a position is worth giving up that much to get up that high. For us to get to 12 from where we pick, that's a couple 1's and a 2 plus.

That's steep.

A player Reid believes could be the franchise LT is one of the few positions I'd give it up for, gladly.
