(double knockouts are a also draw in boxing, but they also count you out to 10, so if you can get up, you aren't knocked out. There's no 10-count in MMA, if you are flash KO'd, thats it.) [Reply]
OMG...watching ESPN right now and Steven A arguing with some other guy over the possible Mayweather / McGregor match. Steven A going with Connor and the other guy saying Mayweather will demolish him.
making me laugh man. I can't imagine it actually happening...but money rules so...
I can't IMAGINE Connor getting demolished either....but Nate Diaz so...
I honestly can't think of two guys I despise more. Athletically awesome and morally bankrupt.
if I was forced at gunpoint to bet the mortgage...I think I'd let them shoot me! :-) (for reasons unknown to me I think I favor Connor)
I have no idea what would happen. anyone have any thoughts or is this just too stupid a subject to even address? [Reply]

Floyd would beat Conor in a boxing match. But I doubt it ever happens. [Reply]
Conor would only have a puncher's chance, and then only in the first 3-4 rounds before he gasses, and then only if Floyd completely disrespects Conor by putting his guard down and trying to clown Conor or something.
If Mayweather is a professional and just goes out to try to win, he wins. Even if he fucks around, he still probably wins.
I would not be tempted to bet Conor unless he was at like +4000 or something, and there will be enough ignorant MMA money coming in that the line wont get that high. The only interesting bet would be "Does Conor McGregor go the distance?". [Reply]

Floyd unretired and called for the fight, and Dana White just went on Conan and said he now thinks the fight will probably happen. (even though just a couple months ago he said there was a better chance that he would be Brady's backup in the super bowl) Dana even said that he doesn't think it makes much sense for his business, but there is now too much money involved for it not to happen.
Things are obviously moving behind the scenes, Mayweather and Dana wouldn't be talking like this unless they now believe this silly cash-grab farce is actually going to happen. [Reply]
Connor would have a 2 inch reach advantage and a 12 year age advantage. also, he trains for MMA energy expenditure which is much greater than the energy needed in boxing. I'd THINK that gassing shouldn't be an issue....I'd think a boxing round would be very easy for an MMA fighter as far as conditioning goes. MMA guys are grappling and kicking and whatnot which requires much more energy than just boxing. both are counter strikers. surely Connor would make money come forward and then try to catch him coming in...as opposed to chase money and allow HIM to counter strike.
I don't think there are better conditioned athletes on the planet than truly good MMA fighters. maybe I'm just wishful thinking...but I can't help but think it's not a forgone conclusion that money is just gonna wade thru him. I just don't believe it'd be that easy. [Reply]

If Floyd still had his speed (hands, feet, head movement), he'll out box Conor with counter punches to an easy decision. That speed was God tier in all time history and I don't think Conor has the boxing skills to compete at that level. [Reply]

Floyd is the best defensive boxer of all time. Conor gassed in the first Diaz fight. Too many years of Floyd being the best and Conor thinking he's the best. Conor should be about a +350 dog on the bright side. [Reply]
Weekend schedule as March Madness kicks off. After this weekend, no UFC for 3 weeks.
Friday
nothing
Saturday
3am - (Fightpass) - BRACE 47
Regional promotion in Australia, no top-100 talent, pretty bad even by local show standards. This is not in any way, shape, or form worth waking up for and unless something insane happens its not worth watching the replay either. If you have fightpass, you wake up with insomnia in the middle of the night, and you have absolutely nothing else to do, then maybe watch this until you fall asleep.
12:30 pm - (Fightpass ONLY) - UFC Fight Night, Manuwa vs. Anderson
This is a pretty weak UFC card, but tough shit. If you want MMA, this is all you are getting this weekend, because no one wants to compete with the NCAA tournament even early in the day. The main card does have a few interesting fights though including Pickett's retirement fight, so it may be worth checking out at about 4:30pm or so. [Reply]
Watching the main card online, classy move today by Gunnar Nelson. He nailed his opponent, and after a follow-up head kick he could see that his opponent was dead on his knees. Rather than pounding him out with more head trauma like almost anyone else would have done, he went slightly out of his way to grab an easy choke to end the fight. [Reply]
