No, it really wasn't.

It wasn't good, but Alex Smith leaves the pocket when there is no pressure, and he throws the ball short of the sticks.

Stanton would have moved the chains in the air, rather than with his legs.

Hint: No one. Smith was the best option at the time to stop the bleeding
That's been the goal for decades... get back to mediocrity, then when it all goes to hell, repeat.

Just... no.

Stanton isn't even on the level of Matt Cassel. He's barely a viable back up.

It is.

Stanton has been a backup to Carson Palmer.
Alex Smith is a backup quality QB.

Disagree.

He is a poor fit for Arian's system.

Yeah his 14 TD/19 INT passing was really going to lead us to wins through the air.

If this is going to be your take, point out the games where Smith being better than Andy Dalton or just about any "average" QB lead directly to a win.

Reid could have coached up Stanton into a far more productive passer.

Or Matt Moore for that matter.

As I said to White Whale, poor fit for Arian's system.

He is essentially a dink and dunker, just like Smith.

The 3rd and 18 was probably the one they will point to. He just needs to understand that he doesn't need to go for the big play every single time. It's okay to get a FG every once and awhile. But he'll get it down.

Let Alex get the Chiefs in position to make the playoffs as they usually do and start Pat in late November with 4/6 remaining games at home. That's my ideal plan.
That 3rd and 18, while a hidden interception, also hit his WR in the hands for what would have been a first down if he could have held on. It was tipped, but without the tip, it could have been a first down.
