Have fun, fellas. Gonna be a grand time in Denver, I'm just sure of it.
So the rookie in question in 1967 was Floyd Little.
The most valuable players on that team with AVs of 9 were Dave Costa, a 250 lb DT, and Al Denson, an... FL?
The least valuable player was the K Roger LeClerc who had an AV of -1. He attempted 6 FGs and made 1. I didn't know AVs went negative, but it makes sense in this case. [Reply]

Yeah. That's kinda my point.
You name a rookie as a Captain because your team blows goats. [Reply]

Pasta chimes in with one of his precious takes.
Yeah, Surtain is worth that. Market is what the market is and Surtain is the first big time CB to come up for an extension in a bit.
That's a fair figure.
But it's just gonna make a team that's probably a 4-5 win football team without him maybe a 5-6 win football team WITH him.
It's putting spinner rims on an old Dodge Caravan. [Reply]

He's not even the best CB in the division. :-) [Reply]

I get your point. But I think bad teams make mistakes that keep them bad. The Broncos have made some of those mistakes repeatedly, since Peyton left.
Right now, I think you have to proceed like you are confident that you're getting close to respectability. Even if the playoffs aren't realistic for this year, you have to assume that they will be within the five-year window of his contract. If you don't extend him, you are just perpetuating failure - especially when you consider the position he plays. It would be crazy to do this in our situation for, say, a safety. But for a CB? I think it's a no-brainer. [Reply]
