It will be nothing to do with TOP or pass rate, it will be personnel. Falcons must have played a lot more 11 and the Chiefs matched with a sub package, rather than playing base. [Reply]

Chenal, at 9.99 is a physical freak. And every week, he shows football intelligence and a desire to be great.
I love the kid.
I think Spags said he is pound for pound the strongest player on the defense.
I can't wait to see how good he becomes.
Side note: I almost feel like the defense would be better if you swapped Gay and Bolton. Bolton is a tackling machine, but he cannot cover, is slow, and maybe needs other players to succeed to make a splash play like running down a QB. Gay wasn't the brain that Bolton is, but he was definitely faster and more athletic. [Reply]

Seems like the last time Bolton was out for a period of time we struggled to stop the run. Maybe not as atheletic but he is smart and has a nose for the football. [Reply]

You think Bolton is more athletic than Chenal?
What games do you watch?
I am going to say something very unpopular (maybe): Nick Bolton needs everyone else to win to make an impact on a play or a game.
I don't know how many people consistently watch the All-22, but Bolton is not a play maker that flies around making plays. He collects tackles like crazy but it's rarely because he made a play himself, but almost always, when he makes a play, it's because someone else won a one-on-one battle, or the defensive line wrecked the offense, etc.
He cannot cover a TE, even a little. He is a very good player, but I hope we don't give him a huge contract. He is probably going to be one of those guys that leaves for more money, and in two or three years whatever team he goes to will try to trade him (back to the Chiefs maybe) or cut him because of his salary. He is definitely smart, and talented. I am not saying anything different, but he is limited athletically, and isn't very fast. When others win, he is outstanding. I am just saying he doesn't really make plays on his own.
Ray Lewis would eat when his defensive line was cooking, but, the difference is he could also dominate a game with a group of backup defensive linemen. Hell, even FW from the Niners isn't Ray Lewis, but, he is more athletic and makes plays in space that Bolton can't make.
I love Bolton, even as a Jayhawk, but I just don't want to pay him like a premium LB because he isn't really a premium LB, he's just the LB we currently have. If he had any sort of ability in coverage, I would feel slightly different, but he can't even cover slow ass blocking TEs. [Reply]
