Nzoner's Game Room>There's life outside of obsessing over the Chiefs
Bl00dyBizkitz 07:40 PM 02-12-2025
Something I noticed about myself and might be a decent reminder to someone who needs to hear it.

I noticed i was obsessing over the chance for a 3-peat so much it was affecting my overall well-being, and failing that quest definitely hurt. And with the rest of the NFL fans taking their victory lap over our demise, Kelce potentially retiring, and the offseason pundits surely expecting us to fail next year, it would be really easy to get too caught up in all the negativity and hate surrounding the Chiefs, caring too much about what everyone else thinks.

I think I'm gonna chill this offseason. Obviously I'll be checking if Kelce retires and watching the offseason moves, but otherwise I'll be more lax about it. People are gonna say some dumb shit about us this offseason for sure, and it's just not worth getting riled up over.

This will be included in my next Chiefs epic.

Patriots fans never understood this. But *almost* every third down in the Mahomes era is joyful.

I think I'm with you. A nice CP break sounds nice. Just sit back and enjoy some Royals baseball. I'll of course keep up on free agency and the draft.

Happy Birthday to everyone I'll miss for the next extended period of time!! :-) :-) :-)

The defense did their job shutting Barkley down no doubt, but everything else was just flat.

Why would I be feeling this way? But that's the thing with obsessions sometimes, they become your entire world and you rely on them so much to keep you happy that when they're gone, or in this case the season ended, you sorta "wake up" to your situation and think "what the hell am I doing with my life, man?"

Side note, I have a pretty one-track mind, meaning it's easy for me to hyper fixate on one particular interest and that just becomes my entire world for a while. Obviously not very helpful when that thing is outright negatively affecting your life.

Since then, I've focused on the essentials and just living better in general, and I'm almost grateful the season is over. It's like a relief, I can breathe again. Like others have said, you can just relax and focus on other things you were neglecting.
Thanks so much for writing that man! That was exactly how I’m feeling about it and you nailed it. Chiefs football has been my fallback the past 10 years or so. So when we had our Threepeat dream crushed Sunday night there was this big silence.

Where as last two seasons the silence came with the Euphoria and satisfaction of the W.

I definitely need to improve my life soon and that would have been the case if they had won 5 straight in a row. I am feeling significantly better as of Thursday and yesterday (technically Saturday now). It just caused a depressive spell in me.

But yeah man you nailed it. If you or anyone here ever needs to talk to someone I’m here. Today I was already able to think about next season so I’m making big progress :-)

I’ve gotten better with time and age. I still fly off the handle during KC games but when they are over, I don’t let it impact my week or even that evening. Life’s too short.

And at the start of this SB…I told myself… they will either be inarguably the greatest dynasty of all time, or arguably the greatest dynasty of all time.

Try and enjoy the ride my friend.
You sound like my dad! He’s a Miami Dolphins diehard so lots of remotes got thrown in my childhood household lol.

For me I’m not a rage guy like you and dad. I bottle mine up into more of a sadness which I think is worse because it prolongs the feelings of disappointment. Also I’ve never gotten upset about a regular season win. A bit disappointed? Sure.

For me it was the inarguably greatest dynasty part…. But it’s possible when can still have that. Would anyone seriously be surprised to see Mahomes winning a SB Feb 2026? Not me. And then if we can somehow repeat we have another crack at it. But even if not it’s best to move forward as it’s not like we can change anything now.

Hopefully Mahomes will have a slow falloff like Brady and we have another 15 years with him. I just can’t stand the media pundits talking trash. He’s accomplished more than most of them ever will and the book isn’t closed yet.

I'm kind of surprised and sad after reading all this. Not for myself, but for others here. Give it a couple weeks... get into a new routine, start that new "hobby" or interest. Rent a purpose if you need to. Then, in about 5 months check back into the Chiefs.

Good Luck!

Oh you’re fond of the past sure. But I’ve read you guys online struggling to adjust to life after Bill and you’re all miserable. And you have to hope Drake May turns into something

When was your last SB like 7 years ago?

:-)

Hey Kelsey, needs some space and some time to process it so do I I mean whether I wanna come back for another season of hard-core sweating everything that’s going on with this team or just being more passive about it and taking it as it comes I need a few days to process my commitment level.

I put my feelings on the Chiefs losing into writing a song. I hope you like it.

Here it is:

Please come now, I think I'm falling
I'm holding on to all I think is safe
It seems I found the road to nowhere
And I'm trying to escape
I yelled back when I heard thunder (thunder)
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it, let me say, let me say
Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
Maybe six feet ain't so far down
I'm looking down now that it's over
Reflecting on all of my mistakes
I thought I found the road to somewhere
Somewhere in His grace
I cried out, "Heaven, save me" (save me)
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it, let me say, let me say
Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
Maybe six feet ain't so far down
Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
Maybe six feet ain't so far down
I'm so far down
Sad eyes follow me
But I still believe there's something left for me
So please come stay with me
'Cause I still believe there's something left for you and me
For you and me, for you and me
Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking (thinking)
Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
Maybe six feet ain't so far down
Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
Maybe six feet ain't so far down
Please come now, I think I'm falling
I'm holding on to all I think is safe

Robert Kraft learned that Florida spa maneuver. Jarrod Mayo to Mike Vrabel. Bringing back Josh McDaniels again again. Back, forward, back

  • Shut down/winterize the man cave, then turn out the lights.
  • Go for a walk everyday, preferably with the dog (the dog will thank you in the way dog's do).
  • Or, go for a walk everyday, preferably with your spouse. Millennials: spouse = "partner". If you can't go for a walk everyday because you can't stand the midwest winter move to AZ like me.
  • Take a class at the local community college or community ed, preferably something to do with your hands: ceramics, jewelry, woodworking, painting, drawing. Dudes here may like Life Drawing. Hell, the city of Phoenix offers a taxidermy class now. That should be popular in MO.
  • Start your garden inside (good use of the grow lights you bought for weed)
  • Help some old person in your 'hood that needs something done

Good Luck!
It just sucks because the place I’m living right now won’t let me do my current hobby. Unless I want to break the lease

There’s gaming but I find that less and les satisfying as I age

Of course there is LIFE outside of the CHIEFS! I am not mad at all that we lost the SB vs. Eagles. We won 1 and they won 1 - so be it. I am glad I did not attend the game nor spent the $$$$$$ to go there to see it. I am very happy with my life and this loss effects me in no way what so ever. I am proud that Mahomes went to 5 SBs before the age of 30. Very proud of this team after years and years of disappointment. These are the Chiefs Golden Years and I am proud to be a part of that as I am sure many others are as well. You can't win them all! I see it as better to be in the SB and lose rather than not be in the SB at all. Chin up, we will be back! :-)

LOL. In what universe is 7 years a long time when you won 6 SBs in 18 years? Yes, I like Maye a lot. I like Vrabel a lot. The Jete and Fins suck so we are in good position to contend with the Bills going forward ...
