was that a monday night game in like 2010? 2011? I remember the fumble but not the context, it was victory formation wasn't it? [Reply]
If we stop McConkey we stop the Chargers completely.
They can’t run the ball well anymore without Dobbins. They just don’t have the juice with anyone besides him and Gus Edwards is a short yardage player.

I think we actually lose here. It’ll create a tighter race for the ratings at the end of the season. NFL doesn’t wanna see Mahomes benched too early.
Chargers- 24
Chiefs- 20
The Chiefs aren’t gonna have the luxury of sitting starters in the regular season anymore unless they win the next four games, which is going to be very very difficult. I don’t think the NFL needs to help anyone to make that happen. [Reply]
Remember that ugly Colts loss in 2022? The next game our OL put belt to ass against the Buccaneers to send a message.
We won the Raider game, but the OL has a cloud hanging over its head. Get Humphries in there and send another message this week to take the Division. [Reply]

Doesn't matter really. Unfortunately the entire season hinges on whether Humphries can more or less immediately step in and provide us competent LT play. If he can the Chiefs can hang with anybody, regardless of seeding. If not we'll be in some very deep shit. [Reply]

Is it that big of a stretch really though to say he’s gonna do enough to get us by?
Donovan didn’t get back in the lineup until we played Miami in the playoffs. Immediately provided solid enough play to get us through those games.
I think this is going to be the same, odds are. And Humphries even gets the benefit of a few warmup contests. [Reply]

Donovan Smith had an entire off-season in our system. DJ Humphries is stepping in on what, 2 weeks in the organization? Yeah, this is a bit different. Needs every rep possible to get calibrated before the real games start. [Reply]

Sure, I just believe the odds are in our favor more than they aren’t. Because as many have said, Humphries doesn’t need to be good. He just needs to not be a literal turnstile on sure passing downs.
He just has to be decent enough that Patrick doesn’t automatically suspect he’s going to get hit on every straight drop back.
I think he’s a better player than Smith was too, pre-injury of course. [Reply]
Oh, and as a random aside, next time an OT that you like falls into the mid to late teens, GET THE FUCKING TRADE UP DONE. For fucks sake, Mims was easily within reach and from many accounts the team was super high on him. [Reply]

The weapons on this team are a massive improvement over last year and Kelce still looks like Kelce for the most part.
100%. Overall it’s gonna be a lot like the ‘22 team if they get that consistency from DJ.
I think they’ll be able to match styles with any opponent they face and just kinda hang around in close games, finding ways to pull them out late on either side of the ball. [Reply]

Pacheco rips off a 30 yards run against the Raiders...then see's one more carry all game....while Mahomes is getting destroyed and the LT eventually gets benched.
If anyone has a theory on why...I'd like to hear it.
One score, down to the wire games are their 2024 thing...I guess. Good practice for the post-season...that's my rationalization.
They abandoned the run because it wasn't working. Take out that 34-yarder and they were averaging like less than 2 yards a carry. [Reply]
