Nzoner's Game Room>Airport food: Seems to have improved a lot but prices still crazy expensive
scho63 02:29 PM 07-28-2024
I've been on the road a lot this past year and with all the time spent at airports, it seems the food I have eaten is greatly improved over the first 35 years I traveled.

- Is it better quality restaurants?
- Needing to improve since it is so expensive?
- Am I just immune to shitty food and tolerate it?
- I have poor taste?
- I'm so hungry I would eat dog shit if they served it?
- I know some secret high class places for special people I go to?
- I think Airline Lounges serve good food for free?
- I drink too much and have no idea what the hell I am eating?

I'm currently sitting on an American Airlines flight from Norfolk to Charlotte and will be drinking soon, very soon. :-)

So who is the travel food expert that can set the record straight? :-)

1. Tortas Fronteras - ORD
2. Chilis - 7:00 AM, anywhere. Get a bacon, eggs, pancakes + a tall boy
3. Cask and Larder - MCO

They would but the cashiers can't do simple math

I'll sometimes kick off a vacation with an airport beer, but I think the past few times I've eaten at one was a 3 hour layover, a 4+ hour delay, and the novelty of eating beyond security at the new KCI. I don't usually show up at the airport on an empty stomach.
Yeah - reminds me of people complaining about movie concession prices. You can just...not eat...for 2 hours.

Schipol wanted to act like they were not a major international airport for enter. E-passport on exit. Guess they really don't want tourists.

IAH just sucks getting through customs. No matter what. US is so far behind when it comes to e-passport.
Global Entry is literally just pausing for facial recognition at LAX and DEN these days. I barely broke stride coming back from Japan a few weeks ago.

I can't see eating a bunch of food before I board a flight and hopefully I've taken a good healthy preflight dump. Once in flight it's some Titos and Bloody Mary mix along with some pretzels. One of the worst things is when you're flying out of Vegas and some huge dude who was drinking all night in the Casino is breathing in your direction with his nasty hangover alcohol breath. :barf:

It doesn’t even look like they have seat belts on that plane, but I’d almost bet they had ashtrays. I’m glad I never flew when smoking was allowed on planes because that would have been miserable.

Flight cancelled last night.

Got to the Charlotte Airport Hilton 1:15am and had a great shower and slept like a bear.

Highly recommend this hotel. Giant clean double room with all amenities including separate living room, restaurant and other features and only $160 plus tax.

Trying this all over again later today. My guys are already in Louisville to kick things off..

Flew back from Belize a couple of weeks ago with my wife. Got stuck on the tarmac in Houston. For 2 hours. By the time we got off the plane, through baggage check and customes etc...the restaurants and bars were closed. All we could find to eat (and we were fucking starving) was from one of those self serve kiosk things. 2 wraps, 2 bags of chips and 2 sodas...$51.00. That was out fucking rageous.
