He’s definitely good and has more than outplayed his deal. Problem for him is that he is not elite. SF will have to decide on whether to pay him elite money or not and because they went to a SB with Jimmy G as well they might think that they can do it with a new QB. [Reply]
Doesn't Jackson kind of suck in the playoffs though? When he's not outright injured (or supposedly holding out) his body of work thus far has been remarkably subpar at best. [Reply]

For sure.
But get me to the playoffs every year playing at the level he does. Eventually you'd think he'll break thru. [Reply]

Kinda what I'm saying. If Lamar was so god damn good, maybe he'd actually win in the playoffs more. Same with Herbert whom everyone seems to love. You can be mega talented and that deserves some praise, but it's not worth much if you can't actually win when it matters. [Reply]

They came within a **** hair of winning the SB with Purdy. He's good enough to win the SB if they're going to surround him with all world talent again. Question is, how long can they continue doing that?
Their front office has done a great job of acquiring and developing players. Outside of the Chiefs, they're the best franchise in the league over the last six seasons. [Reply]

All they have to do is get there some year the Chiefs don't, and they should win. Granted those are few and far between, but the Rams managed it. [Reply]

Not like the Chiefs beat them by 20. These games can go either way. Obviously having Mahomes over Purdy moves the needle but that doesn't guarantee dominance, or even victory. The 49ers have a model that works. Of course they'd like a franchise QB but they're doing better than most other franchises, even those with franchise QBs. [Reply]

I realize it was close, and we were down by 10 again. But for whatever reason we seem to consistently come out on top of the 49ers during the Reid-Shanahan era. They could still beat us, but I would never bet on it.
Against any other AFC team I would actually bet on the 49ers. [Reply]

Exactly how much time do you think Lamar has?
2-3 years max before we start seeing a drastic decline. Running QBs don't age like passing QBs.
The other issue is that they will likely never have the 1st seed again. That division is ROUGH. [Reply]
