I could see DEN going 6-11, or worse, looking at all those pass rushes. Lot of nasty defenses for a young QB.
Somehow, DEN has to win at least half their 50-50 games, like SEA, TB, ATL, LACx2, IND just to get close to .500.
We're going to find out pretty quick if Nix is for real or not.
He will be good or he won't. I'll still take this over any season we've had since Peyton retired. I am optimistic about this season. But "optimistic" doesn't mean winning the Super Bowl. It doesn't necessarily even mean sniffing the playoffs. It's just something to build on - an actual plan.
I was hopeful when we signed Russell Wilson. But by the second game of the first season, you pretty well knew it wasn't going to work. That makes for some long seasons. [Reply]

Absolutley agree. Us old folks understand. [Reply]

Yeah, probably going to be a tough year again. Guess you want to see baby steps in the right direction. Beat the teams you think you should beat, like PIT, CAR, NOR, LVR. Split with the 50-50 teams if you can, and maybe sneak a W here or there vs. the teams you shouldn't beat, as DEN did last season vs. GB, KC, MIN and BUF.
But with a rookie QB, that Sean will have to hold by the hand for most of the season, 9 Ws seems like a tall mountain. [Reply]

That’s the problem. In the NFC you might be able to make the SB bc the QB’s aren’t great. The AFC is loaded with good QB’s.
Nix has to be special enough to beat Mahomes, Allen, Stroud, Burrow and Lamar. He would have to go through at least 2 of them to make the SB. That’s not counting paying the WC against a good QB like Lawrence, Herbert, Tua or Rodgers first.
You need a HOF caliber QB in this conference. Only 2 QB’s that are not HOF’s (Flacco, Burrow) have represented the AFC in the SB in the last 20 years.
Brady, Manning, Big Ben and Mahomes have represented the AFC in 20 of the last 23 seasons when the Patriots dynasty was born. That’s 87% of the time. [Reply]

Not to be a jerk but what are we supposed to be impressed by? You're talking to fans of a franchise who saw plays like this in Mahomes' very FIRST PRESEASON:
Are we supposed to be floored and in awe of Nix's 10-yard out routes?
If we're really being objective and if Nix works out he' still likely be the third best qb in the division. I mean, if he does something we're supposed to be impressed by, we'll be impressed, but he's going to have to do better than what we saw Saturday. [Reply]

Denver has Tom Brady 2.0 in their division and quite possibly the greatest head coach of all-time as well.
Everyone from Knowmo to Domcasual knows Denver is screwed for the next 10 years. [Reply]

As to Tex's point about the Huddle, there is definitely a lot of the same thing in the designated Chiefs thread. But there is at least some decent back and forth. Maybe it's due to Knowmo's contributions over the years here. But every attempt at intelligent discussion in this thread is met with - um, how do I say - non-intelligent discussion.
:-) it's always good fun to see fellow Broncos fans dunking on how stupid Knowmo is. [Reply]

They’re prepared to flex that last Chiefs game to Saturday instead.
Makes you wonder why.
What compelling television are they preparing for? [Reply]

Just guessing here, but I'll bet you find more time to come over and contribute to the thread in those years when the Broncos are good and the Chiefs are bad. Or maybe not. You might not be able to remember that far back. [Reply]

correct me if I'm wrong, but the only AFC QBs not named Brady, Manning, Rapistburger or Mahomes to start a superbowl this millennium are Trent Dilfer, Rich Gannon, Aaron Rodgers and Kevin McCallister

I agree. While I'm always happy to make fun of the Doncos and think it's great their fan base is suffering through the worst era of Donco football in memory, it's just a game.
The vitriol expressed by some of the posters in here says more about them than it does about the Doncos and/or their fans.

that's insane lol
Aaron Rodgers was Green Bay. Replace him with Joe Flacco and you're good. [Reply]

It is a football forum after all.
:-) It's Chiefsplanet. Over exaggerated hyperbole and black comedy is kind of a staple, no? [Reply]
