Never watched any of these guys play outside of a random half once or twice last season, so don’t really have an opinion, other than jumping up to get Nix seemed like a big reach.
However, Kurt Warner liked both Penix’s and Nix’s tape better than Maye’s. Mostly he liked their decision-making and processing. The one other thing I remember from Warner’s critique was that Nix had plenty of arm when he wasn’t either falling away or not stepping into throws. He kind of hits his back foot and then throws without any weight transfer to his front foot. But when he actually does it right, he could drive it, or in Kurt’s words, “it looked like an NFL throw.”
Guess we’ll see if Payton can fix what sounds like a footwork issue. Should be easier than fixing arm motion problems, no? [Reply]
