Now you're going to downplay Franklin? Regardless of where he was drafted, he was a fantastic WR in college. His other WR, Tez Johnson, is a projected top 50 pick for next year.
Bucky Irving had 1,100 yards and 11 TD’s as well.
Also I think the mobile Derek Carr comp is spot on [Reply]

Every other contender is dealing with an exorbitant QB contract and the cap challenges that come with it. Then you have teams, like KC, that are overpaying older stars who are on the precipice of a steep, age-related decline.
Denver and Houston are ready to do some damage.
“Every other contender”
Two things:
1. Your team is NOT a contender.
2. And you ARE paying the same exorbitant fee for your starting QB for the next 2 years. $57.5 million this year and a more manageable $36.5 million the following year. Just because he’s not on your team anymore doesn’t mean you’re not footing the bill for the QB.
Finally, what ‘older stars’ are KC overpaying? Travis Kelce? He got an extra 4 million total for the next 2 years. Big whoop. Peanuts. Joe Thuney? Maybe, but this will likely be his last year here. Chris Jones? Sorry, try again. He got the contract he deserved and his play is still elite. If he suddenly drops off like Aaron Donald did after he signed his massive deal then you might have an argument. Until then, :-). [Reply]

Derek Carr had a big arm and was dreadful against pressure.
A better recent comp for Nix would be a (probably?) lesser version of Joe Burrow.
- 24 year old rookie
- Didn't start showing until transferring to a new school in their fourth year
- Massive breakout season in their 5th year
- Quick minded
- Accurate
- Anticipatory thrower
- Mobile
- Great under duress in the pocket
- Good, but not great arm
- Clutch
- Burrow was 6'3'' 221 w/ 9'' hands, Nix is 6'2'' 214 w/ 10 1/8'' hands [Reply]

Burrow is also a killer and Nix hasn’t proven he has that in him yet. [Reply]

Actually, instead of flaming out. It might be better if he kept them middle of the pack. No top draft picks and they can eventually sign a JAG QB to a massive contract...
Or they could get back on the QB carousel. [Reply]
