Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]
I get the feeling that as time passes on and Mahomes develops in to the QB we all pretty much KNOW he's going to be, Reid is going to get his chapter in the storybook of the NFL, that is if we subscribe at all to the notion/possibility that the league has its stars, and is best served when it caters to those stars.
The coaches, QB's, and teams of dominance going back the last 15 to 20 years have reached a point where they are either going to re-tool and pick up where they left off, or they're going to lose too many of the most valuable assets and will find themselves unable to remain on the top of the pile, so to speak.
Not everyone will be able to stay up top, and that leaves room for others to take over. [Reply]
Damn Mahomes looks like the typical Brett Favre we all saw play for years. Unbelievable throw down the field right on the money and then the next one throws an easy interception to kill the drive. [Reply]
It's not that he makes the big throws, it's that he's identifying where and how to make the throws. He's not perfect by any stretch, but he is WAY further along than I thought he would be at this point.
Most raw talent of any prospect in a decade. Pat is the definition of "upside". My god. Jamies Winston and Marcus Marriotta have upside comparable to the Lake of the Ozarks while the depth of Pat Mahomes upside is comparable to the Pacific fucking ocean [Reply]
His best tangibles are things that can not be taught. Arm strength, drive/competitiveness, "it" factor. Good deep ball placement. God damn how many years have the Chiefs been without a QB that had good deep ball placement? Not anymore...
The things he needs work on, ARE coachable..footwork, pocket awareness, playbook knowledge etc. He's going to be able to learn the system under Smith and Nagy/Reid for a full season granted Smith stays healthy. With a full offseason workout and training camp under his belt where he's getting all the reps, it's going to be a lot of fun watching this guy play w/ the 1's...Mahomes to Hill? How many HR plays are those 2 gonna muster up? Gives me a raging hard on just thinkin about it. [Reply]
