I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.
You would think by now the Bengals would be tired of being bullied but they asked for it.
You don't tug on Superman's cape. You don't spit into the wind. You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger and you don't fuck around with Pat. [Reply]
We gave them a blue print to get better. They lost 8 games with Higgins and Chase. Trade Chase for a haul and build the defense. We won more games without Hill that we won with him. [Reply]
Bengals are lucky it went as long as it did. Indy had to beat Giants and Jags and couldn't. Denver had to beat LAC or Cincy and couldn't do it. Miami had to beat Jets and couldn't do it. It shouldn't have come down to our game. [Reply]

It's fun it did, though.
You know we really took the piss out of Ohio with that one. [Reply]

Also, they only have about 300k dead cap. Every other team in the top 15 has mutimillions in dead cap and only 6 other teams have less than 1M, including the Chiefs.
The ability is there but it's going to take a philisophical change from the front office for any of it to matter.
The ragging on this guy or that guy or front office or coach is what keeps this fun but the truth of the matter is, with an average defense and an average oline, this is a SB contending team.
It is middle of the pack. From a pure cap perspective theyre already starting ranked #12. And much of the top 10 has only a few mill in dead cap liabilities. You have 3 teams including New England and Washington with over $100m to spend. Most of those teams don't have a blue chip contract weighing on their shoulders. The reason the Bengals have so much cap space is because everybody does. If we assume chase gets paid $35m even with your $96m number that only puts them at top 10. If you assume Tee gets paid $25m that puts them at about #20. And that's being very generous because you know a team like the chargers is going to throw money at these guys. $60m is probably way too low
That's not including cap inflation and that chase and tee will probably get way more than $60m. Not including all the guys you believe will get cut and need replaced. Not including all the free agents they may choose to re-sign at inflated prices including Hilton, gesicki, davis-gaither, etc.... And then they know OL needs to be a priority. That is before you even touch the defense which obviously needs a total facelift.
I agree that dead money can help put some of this burden on a credit card. But this isn't like the chiefs at all who have all their core guys locked down before inflation. [Reply]
