Yea...part of that was because they only asked him to do what he's good at..come forward, tackle, cover a small area in pass coverage. They got away with that because he was next to Dean who moves really well..when the guy next to him is Oren Burks he can be much more easily exposed.
You notice without Dean the middle of the field was wide fucking open all day in their last game. [Reply]
Just seen that on the Eagles defense only Sweat, Slay and Gardner have played in a superbowl!!..all the rest haven't? Now that's interesting :-)
Looking back at the 22 Eagles and they blew out a lot of teams. Jalen was an MVP candidate, the D-line matched the 85 bears for sacks, the defense as a whole has a lot if veterans at all levels. But there were some warning signs when they gave up 40 to Dallas, 32 to Washington and 33 to the Packers.
This season the Eagles defense gave up 36 to Washington, 33 to Tampa and 29 to the Packers. That's fine but even in games where they gave up less points the total yards in certain games has been very revealing. Against the Ravens they let up 19 points but the Ravens had 372 yards and missed two field goals and an extra point. Same with the Rams having 402 plus yards for 22 points and failing to score in the redzone late to win. There's some deeper issues going on with that defense imo. [Reply]

What I'm telling you is two years ago, we had Eagles fans telling us how historic that defense was and how they could shut KC down.
So to have new or old faces coming here to say how much better this current defense is entering LIX.... you can probably imagine how silly that sounds to us.
What does it matter if it’s a new or old face? I could care less about what people said two years ago. Simply looking at the roster, it’s undeniable. I’m not an eagle fan, I’m not a Chiefs fan, I’m just a football fan. [Reply]
Yeah, sorry Bruv, we've had over a half decade now of sanctimonious faggots coming on this board to 'just talk football' and they always inevitably sperg out and run off. Because the reality is you kind of have to be a terminally online chode mongrel to even bother going onto other teams boards. [Reply]
I don't care if it happened by accident or not, Hurts is not as good as he was in 2022. Especially the player who produced on that particular night. And that position taking a dip of any consequence far outweighs incremental improvements at other positions.
You can blame the changes in coordinators, injuries, fractured relationships with teammates, shifts in how the run their offense... whatever it is, he isn't MVP-caliber right now. [Reply]

Right.
What the 3-4 hybrid allows them to do, though, is mix up where that 4th rusher is coming from.
Now that DOES require that Carter and Williams occupy a lot of attention, but that's typically exactly what they do.
It'll be Smith and/or Sweat that stack numbers if anyone does.
They're not going to send 5 with much regularity, IMO. But what they'll do is change up where that 4th rusher comes from and which gap he attacks in order to try to create confusion on the OL. [Reply]

Yea, I don't think we should feel overly concerned Andy has seen this scheme a fuck ton of times, from Fangio being in the division for awhile to Brandon Staley as he was a Fangio tree hire, we've seen this scheme a bunch. [Reply]

Jared Verse was 4th in the NFL in pressures. Unbelievable steal that guy was. He had the same amount of pressures as Chris Jones this season and he was a goddman rookie. Only 5 less than Myles Garrett who was 1st in pressures.
They also had Kobie Turner who tied Jalen Carter in pressures with 53. And Fiske who had double-digit sacks and 40 pressures. And Young who had 8 sacks of his own as a speed rusher.
That DL is legit. And so are their weapons. And Stafford is unequivocally more dangerous than Hurts.
Rams would have been way tougher of an opponent
Yeah - the Rams just got a little ratfucked by the weather.

It doesn't matter. None of it will matter.
The Eagles could win. They might. If they do, it will be because KC did enough dumb shit to lose. KC hasn't done that in years in the playoffs, but it could happen.
There's no magic matchup. None of that will matter. There's no defensive scheme advantage.
It will be a good game between two good teams, and in the end Mahomes will do Mahomes things and win. Or he'll uncharacteristically do something dumb and lose.

Again, this idea that either team is far better or even worse than two years ago is nonsense.
I do think the Eagles are a little better on the whole.
I also think the Chiefs might be a little worse due to some concerns at CB3/Safety as well as obviously the left side of the OL (Caliendo, primarily).
If both teams play an A game, it's just gonna come down to a play being made or not made somewhere along the way.
But the key is that there are just no guarantees that both teams play an A game. I think if the Eagles have stepped back anywhere its in their coaching staff. I just don't worry as much about Moore or Fangio. And Sirianni is still a clown.
I think the odds of the Eagles playing a great game are lower than they were under the 2022 staff with guys like Kelce and Cox as long-term veteran throughput. [Reply]
