Here’s a first look at your newest Kansas City Chief, @fanudike. pic.twitter.com/P0T2q0UFmG

— KC Sports Network (@KCSportsNetwork) April 28, 2023

Felix Anudike-Uzomah was drafted with pick 31 of round 1 in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 8.73 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 209 out of 1634 DE from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/maz03OdBwq pic.twitter.com/xoMJ9ki2Pv

Veach said the #Chiefs had 16-18 players with first round grades and Felix was one of them.

Also said a couple AFC teams weren’t interested in trading with Kansas City.

Naturally.

The time to sign Sneed if you wanted to keep him was this past offseason.

He's too close to FA to sign now, he'll wanna get multiple teams bidding on his services.

I don’t think KCs gonna be able to tag and trade Jones. Sneed they could, Jones I don’t see.

Not sure that’s a wise allocation of resources, particularly when we’re seeing that it doesn’t matter if they can hold blocks for upwards of 5 seconds if Mahomes still can’t find open receivers.
Thats going to decide the next version of the Mahomes era. I think Veach will play it safe and protect the moneymaker. He is now and will be next year the highest paid player in the league. No more discount anymore for other players.

Sure seems Veach is following a version of the Billicheck/Brady model:

Elite QB
Great O-Line
Good defense
JAG's at WR and RB's
Don't give players past 30 new contracts

So no, you can find good guards in the mid/late rounds for cheap. They're paying the LG alot, paying the RT alot, and are probably gonna pay the C alot.

They're gonna have to go pay for some weapons too
How long do you suppose they will keep paying Thuney? I would imagine his time here will be coming to an end soon due to his high salary.

I like what we've seen from him so far. But standing my ground that if there was ever a draft where we could have pivoted to offense this was the one. sam laporta and rashee would've been a hell of a 1-2. This draft was loaded with really great TEs who could've made us extra dangerous I'm 12 and 13 personnel
:-)

Do you have a post from before the draft banging the table for LaPorta Captain Hindsight?

Because this is the ultimate revisionist history. Not a single fucking person had LaPorta as a 1st rounder.

Kind of have to keep him for his whole contract. The restructures on his contract have made it that way. Doubt they'd want to take a 21mil dead cap hit in 2024 or 10mil in 2025 to cut him. He's still a great guard so just have to take his 26mil cap hits the next 2 years.

I really like LaPorta but I also think Gray is a good 2nd TE and would be better with no Kelce in front of him so I'm good with that.

The Belichick model worked in part because they were willing to play smash mouth football, run the football, and convert in short yardage. Brady also rarely turned the ball over.

KC refuses to run the football consistently and are one of the worst teams in the league in short yardage. The JAG receivers are forcing Mahomes into making mistakes and turning the ball over 1-2 times a game. The Belichick model won’t work in KC. Also, that model worked in part because Tom Brady was generally not the highest paid QB. Trying to replicate that model here is a recipe for disaster.

I mean, we’re seeing the results now of what the offense looks like with JAG weapons and it isn’t pretty, even with Kelce.

I think they're gonna use a 2nd rd pick to replace one of the Guards in the 2025 draft.

Based on what dipshit? Won a SB last year with that formula, and are currently sitting with the 1st seed. You got a crystal ball shoved up your fucking ass like TEX?

When you're QB is making what he's making, he's gonna have to play to that level with some cheap players somewhere around him. If he needs weapons, OL, a defense etc well then.....you've got a bigger issue.

We won a SB last year because Pat had the best season a QB has ever had. We under appreciated just how good he was last year. It was a level he probably can't duplicate again, no slight to him.

He's been good this year, but this is what you get when you have him play just good. We're paying for face melting elite.

Just go back to spending everything you've got on the offense. Some would rather win games 45-43 I guess, so fuck it.

Can you just have a conversation without constantly calling names? I’d suggest you see a therapist. Literally nobody else on here acts like a complete piece of shit keyboard warrior like you do.

And no, last year’s team wasn’t the “Belichick model” at all, whatever the hell that is. We’ve seen time after time other teams try to replicate it and it never works.

Last years team had a QB making 21% of the cap literally play like 21% of the "player". It's unheard of.
