I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

Burrow is basically going completely bonkers that they have to keep Higgins and Chase, they gonna have the all UDFA defense? [Reply]

Dax Hill is not a difference maker in the secondary. The DL they've drafted have been noncontributors.
I think Lou is really good, if he has the guys he needs and the system can function. Kind of like Spags. But if he doesn't have the guys he needs, it falls apart.
I really liked Dax Hill as a prospect but they killed it, he was a rangy centerfield type safety that made plays on the ball...they decided he should be a corner. [Reply]

The Chiefs traded away Hill and we all saw what happened. The Bills are trying that same approach right now and look like a freight train going into the playoffs.
The Bengals are not only going to retain one WR1, they're going to try and sign TWO.
That should tell fans everything they need to know about Super Bowl "windows". [Reply]
The Chiefs should bring in Lou Anarumo to consult for the playoffs. He could assist Spags in designing quarterback torture racks. Those two minds together building bespoke game plans would be insane. Would also be a beautiful F U to the Bengals.

Lou had his moments but other than one year (PF only) he never had the D playing better than a 16th rated unit. Most years he was in the 20s and some in the 30s.
It was time for a change. The biggest issue is going to be, are the Bengals willing to open their tight fists and spend some badly needed money.
Most probably aren't aware of this but when Zac was hired, no one wanted this DC job with this franchise where they were at. Lou was, at least, Zac's 5th choice.
This time around, there will be a line forming at the Bengals door, because it gives that guy a good stepping stone to becoming a HC somewhere. [Reply]

Cap space is also relative. Lots and lots of real good teams with way more cap space. We will see tons of inflation in the upcoming offseason. Youd think $60m is a lot but it's actually middle of the pack. Teams like New England, chargers, pats, raiders are gonna spend obscene amounts of money.
60 isn't middle of the pack. When you add cuts and rollover it goes up to about 96M.
Also, they only have about 300k dead cap. Every other team in the top 15 has mutimillions in dead cap and only 6 other teams have less than 1M, including the Chiefs.
The ability is there but it's going to take a philisophical change from the front office for any of it to matter.
The ragging on this guy or that guy or front office or coach is what keeps this fun but the truth of the matter is, with an average defense and an average oline, this is a SB contending team. [Reply]
