I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

Dax Hill is not a difference maker in the secondary. The DL they've drafted have been noncontributors.
I think Lou is really good, if he has the guys he needs and the system can function. Kind of like Spags. But if he doesn't have the guys he needs, it falls apart. [Reply]

2022: They lose to KC in the AFCCG and they scream “scripted”! As if the only way KC could beat them is with ref help and a “scripted”.
2024: They lose to KC on a blatant DPI and once again it’s the “script”.
2024: KC rests their starters in a meaningless game as they already locked up the 1 seed and don’t want to lose players or put anything on film. Then a change.org petition is made (believe that it might be trolling) because KC didn’t make enough of an attempt to beat Denver and allow the 9-8 Bengals to make the playoffs. This is only because KC apparently is “scared” of Cincy.
Silly Bungle fans. They should know by now that shit like this only works for the Bills. [Reply]
Personally, I haven't slept in three days because I'm so scared of the Bengals. I'm haunted by a vision of Joe Burrow standing in my closet, staring at me. He looks like Freddy Krueger with a shitty haircut. [Reply]

The problem is... their draft picks have not been impactful unless they're picking in the top 5.
You don't have any end of the 1st or middle of the 1st hits like McDuffie or Karlaftis or Worthy. You don't have enough 2nd or 3rd rounders who have been better than expected like Bolton, Humphrey, Rice (they have Logan Wilson but that's really it). The team depth just isn't good enough, as a result.
Well the good news for them is that they should be picking in the top 10 again here in the next couple of seasons... [Reply]

I laughed.
It will be interesting to see what the Bengals do in this offseason. It's really a transitional one for them. Higgins and Chase need the huge new deals. Hendrickson is going to want a big payday. That's an awful lot of signing bonus cash all due at the same time for a team that hasn't had a lot of flexibility with that in the past. [Reply]
i think firing lou is idiotic. they basically let all their defensive talent walk because the owner is cheap and havent replaced them at all. what exactly were they expecting? [Reply]

It's a little funny, though -- I mean aren't the Bengals the AFC version of the Lions?
The Bengals have Hendrickson, the Lions have Hutchinson and the rest of the parts are pretty comparable around their big guns. ESPECIALLY this version of the Lions where most of their key defensive players are hurt.
The offensive weapons are comparable -- the Lions have Gibbs/LaPorta and the Bengals don't, but St. Brown/Williams aren't at the same level as Chase/Higgins either.
And the Lions just keep winning games. Big games against quality opponents. Meanwhile the Bengals keep looking for justifications as to why they lose them.
It's not just talent - the Bengals organizational mindset is just balls.
Zac Taylor's complete refusal to have these guys ready to play when the season starts is one of the strangest damn things I've ever seen. Taylor is 8-15-1 in September since he's been the HC. He's started 0-2 in 5 of his 6 seasons.
It still seems to me like Taylor's an OC masquerading as a HC. [Reply]

They won't keep everybody. It would be really tough even if ownership wanted it but you can pretty much guarantee the Browns aren't paying out $150M or more in guaranteed money in one off-season, especially after what they gave Burrow. [Reply]
