Wanya Morris was drafted with pick 92 of round 3 in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 8.35 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 215 out of 1294 OT from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/KnzoH8NdfSpic.twitter.com/KZgxtMNcfb
Morris injury/skills make him a huge liability against elite talent this season. Kingsley just isn't ready. Long-term they may be fine backups/swing tackles and/or work at Guard, but who knows how they progress/grow. They're both in a sink or swim situation.
Wouldn't be opposed to additional tackle depth but who knows if Donovan Smith can even get off the couch, let alone play in the NFL. There just aren't a lot of options, but if there is someone out there I would get them for insurance if nothing else.
Long-term we need to get a real LT. I understand Veach really wants to plug that hole with a draft pick because the value is just so great, but in 2025 he's spending $50+ million for Thuney and Taylor. There's no way to really get out of Taylor's deal but there is $27M that comes free after next season so a deal that lets us get a real talent in the door in 2025 and get paid down the road is doable and maybe Wanya or Kingsley would have better luck at RT? I think if Humphries goes down (heaven forbid) they’ll move to the emergency plan of kicking Thuney out to tackle. You cannot put Morris back out there this season after what has happened the last few games. I’m not ready to give up on him, I think he’ll be our starting LG or RG next year, but he can’t play LT anymore. Mahomes does not trust him and things are getting real now. Can’t be messing around with these guys protecting his blindside anymore.
Hopefully, it’s not something we have to worry about. I really think Humphries is going to be a revelation and show people just how truly bad our LT play has been dating back to even OBJ. Even a slightly above average starter is going to seem like a God compared to what we’ve been witnessing. [Reply]
Uhh, I'd have thought his performance at the end of last game would've quelled any fantasy about Thuney playing LT. He was not good, at all. Hell, I think every single pass attempt Thuney got legit bull rushed into Mahomes lap, which is really weird. I'd expect him to get beaten outside. [Reply]
I mean, he certainly isn't overly weak compared to other OL? Would mitigate one of his biggest weaknesses which is getting beaten on the outside shoulder. Now, Suamataia is a different story. That dude was getting beaten every which way. He just needs a couple seasons of development. [Reply]
Mahomes has a seriously high tolerance for bullshit. It was literally years before we ever saw him even have frustrated body language with a bad play.
When he blew his top with Toney tipping that ball for a pick against New England, that was the last we saw of KT.
When Wanya fenceposted that third down in the redzone, and Patrick lost his cool for just that one moment slinging the ball around, punching it and screaming FUCK! Andy read that message loud and clear.
Wanya is done at LT barring a catastrophe. [Reply]

Good run blocker, long arms, heavy hands that do well when they get on the DL and he has one of the best 10 split times which is excellent for pulling to block.
He isn’t getting pushed back into the QB very often. He’s just getting killed with speed and outside leverage/hand work which wouldn’t happen playing inside [Reply]
