Nzoner's Game Room>Lamar Jackson wasn't, isn't, and never will be better than Patrick Mahomes
Wallcrawler 09:14 AM 01-16-2020
This "Lamar Jackson is in the same league as Mahomes" nonsense on every football related show I see needs to stop.

Lamar Jackson, on the biggest stage, has now shit down his leg in both opportunities. Lamar is a player who has to have everything around him working perfectly to have success. Put him down 2 scores and ask him to carry the team, he cannot answer the bell.

There's a big difference between a running quarterback, and a quarterback who can run. Lamar Jackson and The Ravens ran 88 plays and put up 12 points.

Jackson attempted 59 passes, only threw one touchdown, but also threw two picks and lost a fumble. 12 points on 59 pass attempts should tell you all you need to know about Lamar as a QB when the lights are the brightest.

Nobody would bat an eye if before the game, soneone told us Pat would put the ball up 59 times. Matter of fact, id be pretty excited to see how many points and yards he would put up in that span of plays.

When things got bad for both QBs, you saw the odds on favorite to win the MVP this year get visible frustrated, press, and ultimately fold. He was nowhere to be seen trying to work out what was happening, rallying his team, he simply pouted on the sideline as his team fell further behind.

The reigning MVP had literally no quit. Its one thing to say after the fact, that we had faith all along, its quite another for that to be true.

Down 24, think about that for a moment. 24. Mahomes is captured, in that moment on the sideline saying we have everything we want. Everyones already counted us the **** out, so go do something special.

Then, to walk the walk after talking the talk, leading the team to 7 straight touchdowns and 8 scoring drives, throwing 5 touchdown passes, and displaying a fiery emotion that if you dont feel anything when you see this kid going nuts after a huge play, call the coroner, because youre already dead.

The two qbs could not be further apart. Jackson cannot hold Mahomes jock when it comes to putting the team on his back.

Lamar should consider signing with KC as a running back. Its the only way barring injury to Mahomes, that hes ever getting a ring.

Mahomes is the MVP. Its not even close. Lamar is a running back executing the halfback pass play about 20-25 times a game.

Jacksons first two years have ended with dud playoff performances.

Mahomes first two years as a starter sees his team hosting back to back AFC title games for a frachise that in its entire history never hosted a single one before he arrived.

Not sure where all this Lamar hate is coming from. Not better than Jimmy G? Ya'll crazy.

Lamar isn't the reason the Ravens are dropping games.

He should have been realistic and taken what they offered which was probably a massive pay raise and been done with it but greed has taken over. Problem is in his mind he's an elite QB but in reality he isn't. Media hype him because he's black and he has a winning record but no fan that watches football actually thinks he's going to get an SB win. Brown bolted to AZ because he knew Lamar will never get him the catches he needs to get a big contract.

Ravens no better. They see him every day and know what he is.
Wanna bet?

If he hits FA unencumbered, he'd get a record contract and then some. Watson got signed through age 31 - you think a team that looks at Jackson and says "Oh he'll be washed by 33" is gonna care if they can get him signed through 32? And next year's just his age 26 season anyway; a 6 year, $300 million deal only takes him through age 31.

Jackson is going to get INSANE money if he just keeps betting on himself. All it takes is one team and one owner looking to make his shiny toy football team relevant again.

And while Jackson may not ever win a championship, he absolutely makes his teams relevant.

100%. Red Dawg is a dipshit and Chiefs fans are looking at this with a different perspective having had Mahomes for half a decade.

Anyone who thinks a team like Detroit or Washington wouldn't give this dude a fully guaranteed max contract is crazy.

I think Jackson is somewhere in between what the average fan and the media thinks he is.

Barring a critical injury he is going to get paid and paid very well by some team with the cap space to afford his contract.

To many teams are QB needy for him to not get paid, the Ravens fucked up if they wanted to keep him because all he's doing is driving his price higher and higher.

At this point its probably in their interest to move him but if they end up with a shitstain QB they'll be mocked for trading a QB they were winning with.

I could argue it'd be higher than that..You'd have Washington, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Indy, Houston, Tennessee all in that mix not to mention teams like Seattle, Chicago, New Orleans, Tampa, Carolina, 49ers could all easily jump into that..

That's a massing bidding war.

Yep.

Baltimore screwed themselves by not getting something done.

He's a really, really good football player. He's limited as a pure QB. He'll never be a top tier QB in the league. However, he's so electric in everything else, he puts butts in seats. People WANT to watch him play.

Baltimore probably can't afford to keep him now and they've built their entire offense around him.

Plus for some of these teams...cough Carolina, Indy, New Orleans etc what he is far far superior to anything they're looking at in the near future.

I'd bet anything Carolina would have no issue making him the highest paid QB without question.

Tepper is worth a shit ton of money and dude wants "known results" because of his background.

IDK, man. I really like that Tyler Huntley kid and i bet the Ravens do to. They have two legit QB's on their roster and i wouldn't be surprised at all if they move Jackson in favor of the much, much cheaper Huntley.

And that's not to knock Jackson. I think Huntley might be a legitimate starting QB in this league.

They could run the Lamar light offense and probably be a winnng team, not a SB team though...

I wonder about Carolina. They've spent a fuckton on QBs over the last few years.

Would be hilarious to see them pass up an actual legit football player in Jackson because they're now gunshy after missing on Darnold and Mayfield.

I don't buy that, they apparently put all that blame on Rhule. Because Tepper is from the hedgefund world he basically wants "knowns" strikes me as the type that is willing to pay more for a proven commodity.
