Chiefs are trading six-time Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks: a 2022 1st-round pick (No. 29), a 2nd-round pick (No. 50) and a 4th-round pick, as well as 4th- and 6th-round picks in the 2023 draft, sources tell ESPN.

I do. Making a little more a year to lose when you’re already ridiculously wealthy. Some of you guys act like the Chiefs are offering him minimum wage or something. If our drafts aren’t spent amazingly well he basically left Mahomes and Kelce to die on an island [Reply]

The quarterback makes the receiver not the other way around. Mahomes will still be great without Hill but Hill will struggle without Mahomes. Let's wait until after the draft to see what Veach does with his bevy of picks!
No they had the money and the Chiefs didn't is why. If Mahomes can handle the storm coming after him this year he will truly be the best QB ever in my book. I am a big fan of PM and have been since he came into the NFL even if he is a Chief but he plays entirely different with someone is in his face and he will have to hold onto that ball a little longer without Hill. You still got PM and he is a great player but your team took a big step backward today. The Mojo and flow will be different, PM likes to sling it and now he will have to play the way most teams do and actually convert 3rd downs instead of getting a first down every play. Hill was the most scary with his YAC and those sweeps he would do on occasion. Yall gonna feel the pain, we all try to justify losing a player but that one is gonna sting for a long time. [Reply]

If the Chiefs bungle these picks, they'll be set back for years. If the Chiefs signed Hill and almost all his money was guaranteed, they'd be hamstrung for years. At some point, you have to find cheap talent. Best way to do that is through the draft, and the best way to find them is with more picks.
Completely agree. I would have been livid had they given Tyreek what Miami did.
But it sure seems like several folks seem to think these picks are going solve our 2022 problems - and they may on defense - but expecting a WR picked 29+ to make a difference Day One is unrealistic. [Reply]
Sucks to see him go and wish we could have landed better picks. But it is what it is. We are definitely in a transition period. A lot of "1 year deals" it seems which makes me a bit nervous.
Not sure who is in line to replace Reek as the #1. I mean we got JuJu, Hardman and Gordon....not a spectacular bunch [Reply]

staylor, I'm sorry for calling you a homer with people like this in existence. You seem like Red Dawg in comparison.
I really think that's been veachs play. We aren't desperate to attack the primary market. Let's attack the secondary market. Most teams have outblown their wads. We can do some real damage here. Jujus insanely cheap contract is a good example of that. [Reply]

Veach has 2 roads he can go down. John Schneiders where we draft poorly and Patrick eventually wants out
Or
Reload this team by drafting well and having a lot of money to load up on deep playoff runs
OL is a critical element to keep the QB happy. Veach has done a good job with that aspect in the last offseason. Hopefully they can keep the solid OL intact moving forward. I would like to see them put together a better defense. Mahomes has never had a really great defense to help him. And when I say never, I mean never. He lost playoff games in high school where he scored 50+ points. [Reply]

For all the talk about rebuilding the entire defense, we're essentially in need of the same on offense. We have a 33 year old TE and not a single WR under contract past this season.
If we want a shot at a WC spot this year, we're going to need to use a bit of draft capital to bring in a/some quality young talent at WR.
Otherwise, people need to understand that even if Veach hits on EVERY ONE of these picks, they aren't going to be difference makers (at least at WR) this year, and maybe not next.
Veach has a LOT of work to do, and neither of those options above are "wrong" necessarily - they just impact what our expectations should be for 2022.
Wasted season coming up. Stupid to have traded Tyreek. [Reply]
