I don't think a reasonable person gives Manning much credit for the 2015 SB. And yes, Manning has better stats, but Favre played a bunch of seasons in a less QB-friendly era (the mantra of Broncos fans). I think you can make a case for either. [Reply]

Only 1 took illegal HGH to extend a career that was over otherwise. Anything that happened in pile high doesn't count [Reply]

Corporate sponsors demanded that superfarce [Reply]
I'd put Kurt Warner in front of Elway. He doesn't get enough love. He went to 3 superbowls, one with a franchise who had been just god-awful for years.
When it's all said and done Mahomes will unanimously be either 1 or 2.
Manning never played well in any of the 4 super bowls he played in. He has 3 passing TD's in 4 Super Bowls, one of which was in garbage time already down 36-0 vs Seattle.

Mahomes is way better than him.
Mahomes is better but he has 3 more MVP awards and more SB appearances so he gets the third spot.

Manning got pretty lucky. He won against Rex Grossman, arguably one of the worst QB's to ever play in a SB, then was carried by an amazing defense.
For someone to talented and smart, he really didn't look like it in the biggest moments.
If Peyton didn't choke in the biggest moments he would be number 1.

That’s going to change very very soon
Manning won one of his MVP awards by throwing for 27 TDS, averaging 250 yards per game and having a passer rating of 95.0.
Can you imagine a QB these days winning MVP with those stats? [Reply]

Just outside the top 10 in INTs.
Was the most sacked QB all-time
The last 25 years has seen a lot of change with the passing rules and style of play.
I'm not here to stop the piling on, please have fun with it... just saying that at the time he retired, he was at the top of the most significant categories and a few of the not so great. It happens.
Biggest change for Elway was moving on from Reeves and ultimately getting Shanahan. [Reply]

Come on, man. Longevity stats don’t mean much, good or bad. Do you think Eli Manning was better than Mahomes?
Do you at least agree that the “Reeves didn’t throw” narrative is way overblown? Elway was often top 5ish in pass attempts under him. [Reply]
