I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

He’s displayed elite accuracy and anticipation with his throws on a pretty consistent basis. He can throw every pass. He’s decently mobile. He makes his reads and decisions at an elite level. He’s shown a high football IQ with his presnap reads/ adjustments. The fact of the matter is that Joe is the best quarterback in the league, except for Mahomes and Josh Allen. The only QB I’d take before him, other than Pat and Josh might be Stafford, but he’s getting too old at this point to reasonably think ahead more than a season or two. [Reply]
Burrow's house was broken into last night, during the game. No word yet if it's actually connected to the Pat/Travis thing but it sure looks like it. [Reply]

Uh, checking their boxscores this season, after Week 3, there's only two games where they were losing going into the half. Otherwise, in the other 8 games they had the lead early, but their defense shit their pants every time. [Reply]

Not Josh Allen. Not Lahmuur Jackson. Not Matt Stafford. Not Jared Goff. Not Tua. Not Stroud. Not nobody.
Level playing field, Burrow is hands down the best QB in the NFL not named Mahomes.
A career of being battered due to shit Oline dudes and now a defense that couldn't stop a damn thing, yet he's still right there at the top.
#1 yds
#1 tds
30/5 td/int
#3 tQBR
#4 QB rating
Burrow is good and he has had some crappy OL play.
But he has also had really elite pass catchers. A little hard to say what a level playing field looks like.
Mahomes stats looked better with prime Kelce and Tyreek and a poor defense than they do with a great D, a past his prime Kelce and certainly nobody that has replaced Tyreek and worse LT and RT.
When he brings his A+ game, Josh is pretty exceptional. But his career turnovers are pretty bad. [Reply]

The problem started with letting Jessie Bates walk. Bates is the best single high safety in the NFL and in tandem with Von Bell, they worked very well together and made the LBs underneath coverage look better than it was. Along with that, DJ Reader (when healthy) along with the tandem of Larry Ogunjobi and BJ Hill gave them a solid IDL, so that Trey and Sam Hubbard could do their thing. Well, they let LO walk and reupped Hill. Hill is a good IDL but he's not really a difference maker other than couple times every 2 or 3 games. Then Sam Hubbard fell off a cliff.
Their drafting on D has been far less than desireable and the guys that were playing well, all seem to get hurt.
Getting back to Bates. Letting him and Bell go in the same year caused a huge void, not only in the back end of the secondary but it exposed how slow Germaine Pratt and Logan Wilson are in extended coverage. The two guys they tried to fill the back end with; Nick Scott and Geno Stone are terribad whist sucking major ass in the coverage and tackling department. That's not even touching the CBs, because i don't feel like typing all that shit out but let's not fail to highlight how absolutely atrocious they are in tackling, across the board.
The defense fell off a cliff because the Bengals are too cheap to sign multiple, quality difference makers and because they missed badly on the FA they brought in to replace the good players they lost.
Offense is the only thing they have and they know it, which is why they're desperately holding on to Higgins and there's no way in hell they're trading Chase. Chase and Burrow are attached at the hip.
They should have traded Tee last year but they thought they could reinvent the wheel and sign Burrow, Tee and Chase to contracts.
You guys traded Hill when he was 27. Chase is 24 and has many elite years left. Trading him would not benefit the team because they would **** up the draft picks anyway.
Even without Tee next year (if that happens), their offense will be very good. They have to hope to get lucky in FA next year on the D side but along with that, there are still gaping holes on the Oline because Cappa is cooked, Volson has finally been benched (for a guy who isn't really much better if at all) and Karras is getting old.
tl;dr The Front office is filled with brainless dipshits whose intelligence i question to the point i'm surprised they know how to wipe their own asses. Ironically, tigers can't change their stripes so it boils down to luck, just like when they sucked so bad they were able to draft Joe and Ja'marr and got extremely lucky with that '21 FA class.
So my advice is, enjoy the downfall and don't fret the Bengals because i don't see them figuring things out without a whole lot of luck involved.
so it is the defense...thanks.. thats good stuff, nevertheless [Reply]
