I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

I'm firing a GM who can't draft or acquire players over an elite receiver who my QB has known before both of their careers started. [Reply]

I absolutely agree with you. Again, I never said they should trade Chase. [Reply]
It's cute that you guys think you know where the problem is. I do appreciate the chuckles this morning, so thank you.
The problem started with letting Jessie Bates walk. Bates is the best single high safety in the NFL and in tandem with Von Bell, they worked very well together and made the LBs underneath coverage look better than it was. Along with that, DJ Reader (when healthy) along with the tandem of Larry Ogunjobi and BJ Hill gave them a solid IDL, so that Trey and Sam Hubbard could do their thing. Well, they let LO walk and reupped Hill. Hill is a good IDL but he's not really a difference maker other than couple times every 2 or 3 games. Then Sam Hubbard fell off a cliff.
Their drafting on D has been far less than desireable and the guys that were playing well, all seem to get hurt.
Getting back to Bates. Letting him and Bell go in the same year caused a huge void, not only in the back end of the secondary but it exposed how slow Germaine Pratt and Logan Wilson are in extended coverage. The two guys they tried to fill the back end with; Nick Scott and Geno Stone are terribad whist sucking major ass in the coverage and tackling department. That's not even touching the CBs, because i don't feel like typing all that shit out but let's not fail to highlight how absolutely atrocious they are in tackling, across the board.
The defense fell off a cliff because the Bengals are too cheap to sign multiple, quality difference makers and because they missed badly on the FA they brought in to replace the good players they lost.
Offense is the only thing they have and they know it, which is why they're desperately holding on to Higgins and there's no way in hell they're trading Chase. Chase and Burrow are attached at the hip.
They should have traded Tee last year but they thought they could reinvent the wheel and sign Burrow, Tee and Chase to contracts.
You guys traded Hill when he was 27. Chase is 24 and has many elite years left. Trading him would not benefit the team because they would fuck up the draft picks anyway.
Even without Tee next year (if that happens), their offense will be very good. They have to hope to get lucky in FA next year on the D side but along with that, there are still gaping holes on the Oline because Cappa is cooked, Volson has finally been benched (for a guy who isn't really much better if at all) and Karras is getting old.
tl;dr The Front office is filled with brainless dipshits whose intelligence i question to the point i'm surprised they know how to wipe their own asses. Ironically, tigers can't change their stripes so it boils down to luck, just like when they sucked so bad they were able to draft Joe and Ja'marr and got extremely lucky with that '21 FA class.
So my advice is, enjoy the downfall and don't fret the Bengals because i don't see them figuring things out without a whole lot of luck involved. [Reply]

If Joe is elite and so great then you don't need to pay skill players crazy money. We haven’t except with Kelce and he's no where near paid what top WRs are paid these days. That money id better spent on fatties and other areas. All of this is only if Joe is a great as they think he is. [Reply]
In a way it feels like the Bengals will have similar issues to address next year as the Chiefs. They'll both need to rebuild their OL and decide whether a OT position stays with a rookie or they sign a vet. They'll both have effectively one elite DL guy on the books and a whole load of dross to work through. Both need to address CB, both have a key SS leaving. Probably both will be considering whether they need a cheap WR alongside the young guns etc etc. [Reply]

He is elite. The tape makes that pretty obvious. He’s not as clutch, but his ability and skillsets are impressive only surpasses by Mahomes and Josh and Matt Stafford at this point. [Reply]
Here's a classic Bengals ending for rfaulk34 to enjoy!!!
The Chiefs seek to join the 1990 49ers with the best record in NFL history after winning back to back Super Bowls this Sunday night.
The Niners moved to 12-1 with an overtime thriller in Cincinnati, denying the Bengals any revenge for falling in two Super Bowls the previous… pic.twitter.com/ODRUXQ2WBV

Elite but not clutch? How is that. He isn't clutch period. [Reply]

Kind of what I was thinking. he's a great QB but he just doesn't have that clutch gene that would put him over the top and truly in that elite tier. [Reply]
