I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

I bet they'd get more than we got for Tyreek.
If they trade Chase, they need to retain Higgins.
We could trade Tyreek because we still had prime Kelce. If they let Higgins walk and trade Chase, it's full-boat rebuild time for them.
And for what Higgins will cost vs. what Chase will cost, I think you're more likely to get production commensurate with the cost from Chase. Higgins is far more of a one-trick pony than Chase is, IMO.
They should've traded Higgins a year ago and gotten a Chase extension done then. They have REALLY screwed the pooch here and it may have done more damage than they can reasonably undo.
All because they beat Mahomes once and convinced themselves that they were better than they were.

Won the battle...lost the war. Badly.
Higgins is gone, I wouldn't entertain that. I'd guess he's a Charger next year.
But...yeah. I'd not trade CHase, but the idea of it makes a sense. [Reply]
They should have traded Chase and have Higgins a fair deal. They could have got a bunch of picks and done something with rhe defense. We did. They could have done the same and should have. Now they will get nothing for Higgins and Chase contract demands will kill their cap. [Reply]

If they had really been forward thinking they would have traded Higgins a couple of years ago and gotten a Tyreek or even better package coming back. They should have known they couldn't afford both and Chase is the one to pay. Higgins was still cheap back then and someone would have paid the picks to get him and still not have to pay him.
However, I think they mistakenly believed they were going to go back to the SB instead of thinking about keeping that window open for as long as possible with a franchise QB. Now they are going to likely lose Higgins for nothing and you still have to pay Chase. [Reply]
Chase is 24 and clearly a Hall of Fame talent. I don’t think trading him would be wise. It made more sense for us to go that route because Tyreek was 28.
In general I think you have to give a top 5 draft pick at a premier position who appears to be better than advertised at least one extension. [Reply]

I never said anything about trading Chase. I said they need more resources. Trading Chase is only one way to attain that. Trading Higgins two years ago would have been as well.
They're going to have a high first round draft pick. Odds are they will get a good player there by default. But look at their recent draft history on defense.
This is going to be a lot harder than you're making it out to be. [Reply]

If the GM can't take a 28th ranked d and turn it into a 20th ranked d with a top 12 pick in each round and 50 to 60 million in cap then he should be fired. [Reply]

So far, that's exactly what they've done. They took a top 10 D and made it bottom of the league in 2 years. That's on the GM. There's already a good case the GM should be fired. [Reply]
