I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

Allen is the only QB in football who's A game can stand toe to toe with Mahomes A game.
And if he has fewer and fewer of the B and C games, he'll be at the same level as PM.
Prior this season, the real distinction between the two was that PM just never had games where he shot his own guys out of the game. His B games were a little less frequent than Allen, as were his C games. His D and F games were virtually non-existent.
That's not really the case anymore. Right now, Allen is an equally dangerous QB.
We'll see if that remains the case when the post-season gets here. But history says that Allen is about the only guy in the league who can reasonably claim that his post-season performance is on the same level as PMs. Especially the more mature version of him that's been around the last couple of years (not the hyperactive one that killed them a few years back agains the Texans).
Allen's a remarkable talent. As good as the league's had. In virtually any other era, he'd be the best in the league without much argument.
There's a fair argument to be made that his 2 games in '21 pretty significantly skewer his overall playoff numbers.
Aside from that year, 6 of 8 games <100 passer rating. 5 of them <90 rating and a TD/INT ratio of 12/4. I'd have to update from a previous post detailing those 2 and all the others but i can't do it from work right now. [Reply]

The Cincy game we lost was a game where he had 3 or 4 opportunities to really just put the game away. And he never could get it done. He the worst half of football he'd ever played to that point.
The defense often takes the blame for that game but you could just as easily put it on Mahomes. Something was just...off.
Someone here postulated he took a knee to the dome and had a concussion. It makes as much sense as anything. [Reply]

Normally I'd dismiss something like this as just "sour grapes," but Mahomes has plenty of history in the playoffs where he just makes it happen. That makes me think the concussion theory is a pretty fair take. [Reply]

Do people still blame the defense for that loss? The offense and especially Mahomes lost that game. [Reply]

As bad as that 2nd half was (I credit Lou as much as docking Pat, it was brilliant defensive coaching), Mahomes led the team down to get points to send it to OT.
In OT he hit Tyreek in the hands down the sideline. If Tyreek catches that instead of pops it up for the INT we are likely going to the SB after Mahomes wins that game in OT. [Reply]

That drive in OT started at their 45 after the pick. He believe he completed 2 passes of about 8 yards, and Mixon had a big run to get them in FG range. Still counts, but wasn't overly impressive. [Reply]
