Doesn’t mean they are close to the Chiefs in any meaningful way. It’s actually better bc they’re stuck in purgatory
Probably they'll win around 7-8 games. You look at their schedule, and it seems clear that there's around 5-6 teams Sean knows he can't beat on paper, Like KC, BUF, whoever. Then there's about 5 games they probably should win, like HOU, CHI, and so on. Now, even those games the margin is probably pretty slim, like 52% or whatever. They aren't going to have any games where they're 70% likely to won for the next couple years. But a better than straight 50/50 chance to get a W.
Then that leaves about 6 games that are close to a coin toss. Like LVR, CLE, WAS. He'd like to win about half of those.
That gets him to about 8 Ws. They won't win anything with 8 wins, and it's highly unlikely they win 10, but it's about 40% better than last season. And he proves that he can take a POS and make some chicken salad. That's just marketing himself and his concept. [Reply]
Not sure how a 5-12 team that lost Dre'Mont, Chubb, Javonte Williams, and is likely to lose Sutton and/or Jeudy is going to be decent, or win more than 7-8 games.
They still have Russet and they hired Sean Payton, not Jesus Christ.
Coach Christ is the only HC who could turn the Donks disaster around in less than 3 seasons. [Reply]

Sean is trying to prove a concept to ownership. That concept is basically, "I can build an offense that can operate with a certain degree of success with this limited QB, and I can do it in just one season."
He's not trying to prove he can win anything, other than win games DEN should win, and maybe half the games they shouldn't. Half is probably a little too much, but you get the idea.
What he's doing now isn't what the offense will look like in two or three years, is my point. He's just laying a foundation, something to build upon that's stable, with the extremely limited options he has with personnel.
Right now, that means upgrading the OL a bit, and build a running game to establish physicality as part of their team ethos or whatever. That also limits how much Russ has to stand back there and think, because that's obviously a weakness anyone would want to avoid a much as possible.
Sean always coaches QBs to be on time. Brees was maybe the best at it, ever. But he also got Jameis to be a lot better at it. Taysom struggled with being on time, but he learned to be somewhat competent at it.
But being on time is how Sean schemes easy passes for his QBs, right? And being on time means a ton less "let me stand back here or scramble around and try to play playground ball," which is definitely not a strength for Russ anymore.
That's what he's going to try to do with Russ. The issue is that Russ has never been good at timing, so we'll see how that goes.
But the running game is how Sean builds some insurance for the offense in case Russ just can't be consistently on time.
I agree with this sentiment... he's building a team in his vision that will be competitive in the long-term, with or without Wilson. Sean will do whatever he can to help Wilson prove 2022 was a fluke, but if that doesn't happen, he wants 'the team' to be ready to run the way he wants without Wilson. [Reply]

Who knows... to me Jones replaced by Allen is a wash. We'll see when JW returns, but I'm sure they will draft a RB at some point and they did pick up Perine, who is not an all down starter, but he can be a nice weapon.
Home
KC, LAC, LVR, NYJ, NEP, GBP, MV, CB, WC
Away
KC, LAC, LVR, MD, BB, CB, DL, HT
Worst case:
- the bolded teams are what I would count as VERY winnable and that's 6.
- the underlined teams are winnable and there are 5
- that's 11 games and of those, I'll say they can get 8 wins and lose to the rest
Leaves KC 2X, Vikings, LAC away, Bills, Bears ... 6 other games that I would mark as not expected to win. Take 1-2 there and you have 10 wins.
Lots to be done between now and the regular season and even if they found their way to 10 wins, they can and likely will miss the playoffs.
I think 2022 was a mess for so many reasons and while Sean is not the greatest coach of all-time, Hackett may very well be one of the worst. We will see what other pieces Sean adds, and yeah I'm overly optimistic every season... I'll never project them to finish under .500. I think 10 wins is the ceiling. [Reply]

While playing the Bears twice, should help your win total I don't think that's going to happen. Lol [Reply]
