I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.

Looking at that 9-0 start, their SoS was .361, beating one team with a winning record (one that finished 8-8, and two others 7-9). In the remaining 8 games, their SoS was .554, playing 5 teams with winning records (offset a bit by a 3-13 and 4-12 teams).
Overall, giving them a SoV of .335.
For reference, the Bengals' current SoV is .237, which is the lowest in the league including the Panthers (.241).
Oh i know. It's pathetic, frustrating and then more frustrating. They're literally 3 plays away from being 7-3, the #5 seed half a game behind the Steelers.
Incredible how wide that thin line is and not surprising that it's the Bengals in this situation. The narrative between the Ravens/Bengals, Lahmuur/Burrow would be 180 degrees different. Burrow would probably be leading the MVP voting instead of being around 7-8th. But in Bengaland it should be expected that they continue to give themselves the short end of the stick with their all to predictable incompetence and ignorance.
Case in point. Rivals will cry about the refs and luck in the Chiefs v Donks game but it's not luck when you notice another team's weakness and exploit it. You know the last time i heard about the Bengals doing something like that? Probably never. Not any time that comes to mind, at least.

And the crazy shit is the Bengals could realistically be 8-7 heading into the final two games of the season if they just got their shit together a little.
I always love hearing the details of those plays, because it does make it seem far less random... they were still fucking lucky to win the game, but yeah knowing they were scheming for it puts it in a better light. [Reply]

This has been the weirdest season ever. I had so much hope in TC and right before the opener, with Tee getting "injured" and the Ja'Marr contract shit and him saying it would be a game time decision if he plays, i just felt this black cloud and knew they were going to lose. Even with all the stupid shit and close losses and craptastic defense, i still have this weird optimism about this season. I felt for sure they were going to win Thursday right until the end...so it's probably just gas. Only problem is, i never doubt my gut so it's weird having this feeling when there's no real evidence, on the defensive side, they will get their shit together. [Reply]
The Bengals board has a search out for their mod. They are all locked out of their board since last night. Chase not pulling punches
Ja’Marr Chase is also frustrated with team’s inability to finish games. How? “Ask Zac. Ask the coaches. Don’t ask me. I play football on the field. I don’t call plays for us.” pic.twitter.com/GOzY5EjOhS

Folks have been moving that record down just a little bit since about week 4 but they keep essentially saying "Oh the Bengals can finish at {playoff record} if they just figure things out a bit...
And in so doing refuse to acknowledge that the record as it stands exists for a reason.
The odds of them 'figuring it out' were always incredibly low because the underlying issues (essentially team harmony and defensive consistency) are what created that record to begin with and would continue to get in the way of reviving it.
Now you just root for them to win 4 more games to mess up their draft status and they can continue to try to convince themselves that this season was just bad luck. [Reply]
Time is running out for these dudes. They’re currently #10 in the conference, behind the Dolphins who didn’t have their QB for like a month. That’s pathetic.
I think it was Parcells who said real football doesn’t start until after Thanksgiving so they’ve got a chance, but they basically can’t lose anymore games. Or if they do, they’ll need like three other teams to also lose a bunch to back into the playoffs. [Reply]
