Sure, but all the study in the world doesn't prepare you for the physical aspect of playing offensive tackle after an ACL tear
I hope he plays next week, I'm just not so sure it's gonna happen [Reply]
He's 30. If his knee holds up and he returns to form he could be Pats LT for the next 4 years and Wanya slides to RG and we're set for a LONG time. [Reply]

Certainly seems in the right head space. Here's to hoping he can become that guy. [Reply]
Anyone know how comp picks work in regards to guys signed in season? It would be a very Chiefs thing to do to watch him ball out for a few months and then let some other team pay him a huge deal while landing a 3rd round comp pick for his service.
I hope they don’t go that route, but I could very much see it happening. [Reply]

I believe if he walks, KC will get the comp pick IF its awarded.
It could also be the other way around...in the interview DJ clearly thought he was going into a contract year and expected a big pay day until his injury and release from AZ. It wouldn't surprise me if DJ and his agent see all the negative press on our starting LTs and if he comes to KC, shows at least semi level skill, it could be looked at as DJ making a HUGE impact and thus giving him his best chance at getting a long term contract from another team. Maybe that team is KC but maybe its not. HE also gets a chance to get his ring! [Reply]

If dude balls out, then they're not letting him go anywhere. They keep trying to get there LTOTF and if Humphries kicks ass, then he's not going anywhere. [Reply]
Not trying to overreact here but this guy being even an average LT like he was changes everything.
It changes the entire offense. It changes Mahomes. It changes the playcalling. It changes the heavy reliance on the defense.
It most importantly would change the the next 3 years bc Veach would almost assuredly extend this guy if he returns to form.
The Chiefs might be tight on money but they would enter the draft with the ability to attack the weaknesses of the defense as well as add another offensive weapon for Mahomes. [Reply]

I hope you’re right, it just seems like something they would totally do. I don’t think they’re ready to give up on Kingsley yet (as they shouldn’t) and you’re looking at four o-lineman with ~80 million dollar contracts. Not sure that’s feasible, they may have to let Thuney go to make it happen, which I would actually be fine with if the choice is him or a good LT. [Reply]
I just looked at his PFR page for the first time and that's less than exciting.
2015 - Inactive his entire rookie season.
2016 - Missed 3 games
2017 - Missed 11 games
2018 - Missed 7 games
2019-2021 - healthy with one pro bowl
2022 - Missed 9 games
2023 - Missed final 2 games with most recent knee injury
2024 - Missed 11 games so far
Why are we so excited about this guy? He's missed games for knee injuries and in 2022 he missed over half the season because of a back injury. Also found this on Wikipedia and I know Bruce Arians is a jack ass, but damn.
"Throughout his rookie training camp and in the preseason, Humphries displayed revolting play in practice and preseason. Head coach Bruce Arians nicknamed him "knee-deep", explaining that you need to keep "A knee in his ass every day" to keep him motivated"
I'm finding any excitement to be dissipating. [Reply]
