It's pretty hilarious watching Payton and KnowMo pretend that Terry Bradshaw didn't already expose Payton's true feelings about Russ...
Sat with Terry Bradshaw for a bit. Interesting comments on Sean Payton, his co-worker for the past year at FOX. Said Payton didn't want to go to Arizona bc of the QB. Also said he didn't want to go to Denver bc of the QB! Ultimately he took that job in spite of Russ.

#Broncos HC Sean Payton has already shown Russell Wilson clips of what Drew Brees has done really well in his system and Payton thinks they have a lot of common traits.

Payton might think he can mold Russ into something like Brees, but there's no way he thinks Russ is Brees. He's always been a great QB evaluator, so he's always known that Brees was one of the best ever in terms of being on time, while Russ has never been very good in that respect. His inability to consistently dot targets over the middle speaks directly to that issue.
It's going to be interesting to see whether Payton can in fact make Russ a better pocket passer that can go through his reads and make decisions on time, or not. Because Payton's offensive philosophy is entirely based on timing and dotting receivers between the numbers, something Wilson has struggled with his entire career. [Reply]

Payton to me is like Kyle Shanahan. Offensive guru but they aren't running anything but their shit.
Sean Payton just holding court right now. The minder tried to start wrapping it up and Payton waves him off to keep answering questions pic.twitter.com/n1xjpHLdOa

They’d love some mediocrity. That’s a pipe dream for that franchise at this point [Reply]

Broncos should have paid Steichen.
Nah, not really. I mean, I get where you could get that from, but Shanahan's overriding philosophy when it comes to QBs is to keep them on a leash; he doesn't want the QB to improv at all. Plus, Shanahan's offense is predicated on that run game. The passing attack is pretty much generated off of it.
Sean Payton is kind of the opposite. Oh, Sean wants to be able to run the ball, but he can operate his offense with a minimal amount of running. He never leaned into the run game the way Shanahan always has. And Payton's passing attack is more advanced than Shanahan's. Finally, Sean will give his QB opportunities to make bigger plays than what the original concept asks for.
Shanahan pretty much doesn't allow his QBs to do that sort of thing. He wants to dictate exactly when and where the QB will take a shot, otherwise he's not a fan of the QB taking those kinds of risks. [Reply]
