Nzoner's Game Room>My friend, Seclark
Iowanian 05:08 PM 02-04-2025
It’s not often that I don’t have the words, but this is one of those times. Today I received a message from Mrs Seclark that she asked me to share with all of you. It’s not an easy message to even type.

Sec passed away this morning after a battle with cancer and ALS.

We communicated semi regularly and it was always a pleasure. Scott was one of the best humans, who lived to love his family and friends. Never once did he complain about his challenges, he was always so positive…and usually more concerned with what was going on with me. I can’t do him justice in this message, but in some of our last texts, when I mentioned his illness, he said the following quote that defines the man for me:

“I haven’t tasted food in 3 months. But I Am Blessed! I have family and friends who love me and stay with me. I have elders and a pastor who visit me. My grandchildren are my pride and joy and they come and see me. That’s all I need in life”

He was a great, great guy and I’ll miss him on a personal level. A random poster on a message board became someone I consider one of my best pals in life. I hope I can become as good of a man as I considered him to be.

It is my hope that CP can honor him, and I will find an appropriate cause or fund that his family supports and ask those who considered him a friend, Like I did, to honor him that way.

-Sec forever.

RIP.. I didn’t know him but feel like I do now.. For him to mean so much to posters I respect means a lot… He will probably take a short timeout from watching over his family to check out the game Sunday… Chiefs are lucky to have him as a fan..
Prayers to his family…..

Sad to see this. He seemed like one of the good ones and drew such a brutal hand. Sorry for your loss, Iowanian.

Never interacted with him but saw his posts a few weeks ago and was pulling for him to make it to the Super Bowl. It's a damn shame and condolences to those who knew him. RIP

I had the great pleasure of talking to him on the phone a couple of times.

Once was at Arrowhead where we trying to find each other in the parking lot.

Super cool guy. Can't be stated enough

One of a kind who leaves an incredible legacy behind that we would all be fortunate to acheive....one of cherishing all the important things in life.

RIP, my friend.

Won't be the same without you.

Thanks for letting us know. And I agree with the others please let his wife, boys and family know they are in our prayers. We grieve with him even though people like myself didn’t know him outside here. 20 years or so you pick up things on people though. He’s one of them you really couldn’t find anything not to like but plenty to respect and admire!

It’s funny how like you said, this goofy posting online crap we do on this board about football has lead to people having impacts on other peoples lives. That’s remarkable. It truly is. I’m glad you had that opportunity to get to know him. Always admiring how much you could tell how much he loved and respected his wife. How much he loved his kids. Decent and funny. It’s not easy to be balanced in those ways but he sure made it seem easy! Like you mentioned, in his health battles and the way he handled it is something we should all be able to learn from. It set a great example for anyone who might have to go through the same or similar. That’s really awesome when a person can just be themself and by doing so they have an impact on people. And that’s just talking from my perspective of not ever meeting him. There’s been qualities of several of these folks that have passed recently and me personally I look at things that I like about them and if it’s something that I’m not like that I think maybe I can learn something there and try to improve that about myself. He was a really good guy to everyone.

I’m sure you will find plenty of ways to honor him! Take care and God Bless you bro!

Thanks for posting this, Pete. That was a lovely tribute to Scott.

I messaged frequently with sec over the last 20 years. Although we never met in person, I considered him a friend. He was just genuinely a good man and a CP legend. He will truly be missed.

RIP, Scott.
