Nzoner's Game Room>Jaguars LT Cam Robinson traded to the Vikings
wazu 05:17 PM 10-29-2024

Trade: The #Vikings are adding a new left tackle, completing a trade with the #Jaguars to acquire LT Cam Robinson in exchange for draft pick compensation, per me and @TomPelissero.

Vikings get Cam Robinson and a conditional 2026 7th (that can go away based on playtime) and Jaguars get a conditional 2026 5th that can become a 4th based on playtime, per source.

Oh it's Andy - status quo is ALWAYS the safest bet on the OL.

I'm just saying it doesn't really have to be. There's still plenty of time to get an OT up to speed. I mean if you'd have traded for Robinson and just had Thuney tell him his assignment for the rest of the season, things would've been just fine.

This trade was never going to happen. They're not bringing in a LT.

I really thought we'd be more mad about this but I guess everyone shot their wad in the Dionte thread.

It goes against everything Andy has done throughout his career so really wasn't much to get worked up about. Now, if you want to criticize them for not being more proactive about finding a better backstop to Suamataia than just chuck Morris out there I'd understand and agree.

Minny ate the whole $9.5m in salary. They were desperate after losing Darrisaw for the year.

Even if KC wanted him, they couldn't pay that.

Oh.

Yeah, that's a pretty big deal even for a team that's not contending because it creates rollover for next season.

Being willing to eat that salary is worth a 3rd rounder in its own right. No wonder they gave so little to get him. $9.5 million in rollover for next season can be huge for Jacksonville.

This may or may not be true. Injuries happen & could force their hand. That would be really tricky if the injury or injuries happen after the trade deadline. Neither of the two young current options are playing well. If they get worse, the FO & coaches will have to do something to protect their best player.

(Smith racked up a lot of penalties his last few years and hasn’t played. Scary stuff if he’s your best option past the trade deadline.)

Andy is gonna roll with Kingsley bc he is so comparable to Eric Fisher. Just hope he’s ready next year.

He’s got all the physical traits. Get his ass with Duke Manyweather all offseason.

Thats not true, if the shit hits the fan, there is a pro bowl LT waiting to join a contender. He has stated that is what he wants. Bahktiari and Veach have probably been in touch.

Andy likes continuity on the O line but if Patrick doesnt feel comfortable or say another injury should happen, there is a way better option out there than D Smith.

Key word. "Planning". Yes, if one of the OTs gets injured they'll probably call up Donovan Smith just to have another body they're familiar with in house.

Uh, if Bahktari was above replacement level currently he'd be rostered.

That player has been injured, and there has been no news of his recovery and ability to play. Why would they probably have been in touch? Do you know something that the rest of us don’t? Or do you just like that player as an option and wish it to be true?

Hell, the Vikings just gave an early day 3 pick to the Jaguars and ate all of Robinson's remaining salary. You'd think they'd call up Bahktari first and offer him a reasonable deal to come in if he was anywhere near the player some folks seem to think he is.

Must have read you wrong. I think we’re all in agreement that the LT position has to improve. Penalties are bad enough. But getting number 15 injured is completely unacceptable. I still trust in BV and the coaches to figure it out. :-)
