Nzoner's Game Room>What in the fuck are the Lions doing?
Mecca 09:15 AM 09-29-2023
I know they are 3-1

But why in the world did you spend a top 15 pick on a RB if you were just gonna give David Montgomery 35 carries?

It’s objectively hilarious to me that they let a 22 year old, clearly talented RB go for a fourth rounder. But spent the 12th overall pick on another shifty RB. All to just give Montgomery 35 carries a game lol. I just think their approach to the RB position is super duper bizarre.

This is a fair assessment of things, Campbell is a ground n pound kinda coach so this guy will surely start getting touches sooner than later

Why waste the hits on Gibbs in a game they dominated from the start?

It's absolutely wrecking my fantasy football teams. I've written Gibbs off as the Lions version of CEH at this point. I can't trade him for anything decent at all. Gonna be an L of a fantasy season for your boy VK and your boy VK does not like taking Ls.

Are U the one that said Hali would suck as a DE?

That might be true, but a lot of teams still passed on them in the top of the second round. Plus, getting high picks right seems easy, but a lot of GMs simply don’t. The Lions made the right picks, and they are contributing instantly. That’s a big reason they’re continuing their momentum from last year.

As we know, continually progressing in the NFL isn’t easy. They seem to be doing so. They could have just as easily whiffed those picks and be floundering. We’ve been there. It happens.

ONE team passed on Laporta in the 2nd round.

i think that's probably part of it. the length of an NFL season bites a lot of rookie RBs historically. And Gibbs is not a big man. Saving him for the playoffs is probably a pretty good idea.

And it allows him to learn how to pass-pro at the NFL level at a slower pace, and anything else they want to ease him into over the next 10 weeks or whatever.

Even if that all works out, I wonder if they didn't at least TRY to move up a few spots for Carter.

He's a complete bust and I've lost my buy-ins in the leagues I took him 2nd round in. They are PPRs, Mr. Meat. I wanted those sweet, sweet receptions. Instead, he's just a gimmick player they bring in from time to time to give the normal starter a blow.

That Achane guy on the Dolphins is what Gibbs was purported to be in the NFL draft. Achane is the truth, Mr. Meat.

Who knows, maybe they did. So far it looks like they aren't missing Carter much. 11 sacks and allowing just 2.5 yards/play so far.

Gibbs is the exact type of RB you overdraft a little when your QB is a guy like Goff.

The Lions are setting up to be a consistent threat in the NFC. Tons of talent.

It's actually really smart. Rookies have a hard time adjusting to the NFL bc they only play 13 games at most in college. The league is faster, stronger and longer than college. The Lions are going to the playoffs so it's gonna be at least 18 games.

They don't need him. Bring him up slowly and use him in December and January.
