This was always the goal. 10-10 through that TOUGH 20 game stretch.
Yanks offense has really been struggling lately so hopefully we can get at least one in NY, but I think two is possible if our SP continues to roll. [Reply]

Smells like playoffs to me
Wacha is pitching great. That first round "wild card" series is only 3 games. If this keeps up there's a world where they go with Ragans, Lugo and Wacha and put Brady Singer and his slider in the bullpen for the first round at least. [Reply]

If the Royals and their new owner (who’s trying to get funding for a new stadium) want to go all out and go for it? Two words. Cody Bellinger.
Mutual option with the Cubs. Either Cubs or him will decline it. He will be available. LH power hitting OFer would slot in nicely in the Royals lineup. Outside of a couple down seasons, he’s basically a .350 OBP guy. Also can steal some bases. You could even try him at leadoff in front of Witt. That makes your 1-4 pretty damn good and maybe nasty if they add Cags later in the year to hit 5th. Potential scary lineup to work through.
He won’t be cheap, but a 3 year $100 million contract offer may get it done. A playoff team with good hitters around him and a chance to hit FA again at 32 for one last big contract. Sherman always said he would open the wallet when the time was right. This would be the move, IMO.
Feel good about the SP going into next year. Wright will be on a comeback tour and Royals may re-sign Wacha to another short term deal if he declines his option.
Need to tinker with the bullpen a little, but don’t need any big money spent there. Just a couple new faces.
But if we’re going 2014-2015 Royals, Bellinger is the move.
We don’t have the assets to swing a big trade for a name OF w/ consistent production.
