The offense in general seems to be struggling with running and getting open. We need to start running the bubble screens and quick slants for 5 yards. Mahomes just isn’t getting the time to find the deeper routes. 3rd and 4th and short are so much better this year than years past.
WR- Worthy still with the drops when the balls hit him in the hands. Hopkins, Hardman and Watson relatively quiet in the first half. Mecole really making that last play of the half super exciting, ran 85 yards running sideline to sideline and ending at the 50. He looked exhausted. Worthy was open in the back of the end zone Mahomes just threw it away (below). That was a great call to use Worthy’s speed to get us out of the shadow the EZ.
That Mahomes deep throw to Worthy was too far out of bounds, they gotta work on their deep pass connections. Also I hope Worthy is okay that elbow really impacted the ground hard on that play.
OL- Wanya going down, no replay, looked like a knee injury. Saw him on the bike on the sideline grimacing. Hopefully it is just a contusion. Kingsley immediately struggles on the first few pass pro plays. Wanya may not be great but Kingsley needs a lot of work. Almost 4 sacks in the first half (2 actual, one spin and throw and one negated by a penalty). The one negated by the penalty was lucky Kingsley just flat out got beat. Can’t have poor play on Patrick’s backside, that is a recipe for a disaster. First drive after half and Kingsley still struggling with allowing pressure. He just allows defenders to run right past him on the outside(below). Wanya got some Horse Cocaine and they put him back in the game.
RB – Hunt just keeps taking the ball and running hard. 116 carries since week 4 only Derek Henry has more. Unfortunately, like last week Andy abandons the run and Hunt only has 8 carries for 24 yards at Half. Hunt catching out of the backfield is what I have been waiting to see more of, Hunt was really good on swing and wheel routes when he was with us last.
TE- Kelce and Grey have been the entire Offense in the first half. Kelce ties record of most receiving TD’s (76) by Chiefs TE (Tony Gonzalez). Kelce has 6/7 receptions for 53 yards and TD leads all receivers at half. Hendershot gets his second reception from Mahomes in the 3rd. Mahomes sailed the pass to Kelce in the back of the EZ too…maybe the ankle is bothering him more than we can tell.
Def – McDuffie got pushed off of on that pass to put him a full step behind Sutton. Don’t know how that doesn’t get called (illegal contact)
Jayden Hicks continues to impress with his open field tackling. The Defense isn’t getting home with just 4 man rushes, our only real pressure has come from blitzes. I haven’t seen Uche out there yet but no one has really drawn my attention on the pass rush. Chamarri Connor has had a few great open field tackles as well. [Reply]

Yep, too many 3rd and Long situations after gaining basically 0 yards on 1st and 2nd down. Hopefully they can find a way to play better next week. They'll need it. I don't think 16 points is enough to defeat Buffalo. [Reply]

Last time they scored the same number of points in consecutive weeks was in the 2021 playoffs, so we're probably safe there. [Reply]

I don't think it's an excuse it's just how it is in the NFL. Go back and look at the Pats run. They would have trouble beating some pretty bad Dolphins teams. It is what it is.
I think we can also all agree that the offense is going to have to be better. Mahomes did some things that he doesn't always do today. He had Kelce wide open in the endzone and missed him. There's a lot of work to do for the offense. Same was true last year. They just have to get it rolling by playoff time [Reply]

They had trouble with MIA in December. And for the longest time I thought it was just the temp difference, going from 30 degrees to 80 degrees. But found out watching some podcast with a bunch of former NE players, including Gronk, that it was because half the team went out drinking and partying the night before the game, because it was Miami and they'd just come from NE. They were hungover. [Reply]
Our WRs outside of Hopkins continue to just not be good. I don’t want to run kelce and dhop completely into the ground. We need juju for some quick hitters. And we need Hollywood to open things up because worthy right now looks like he needs to fall back into more of an Mvs decoy role.
We just need to hang in there until these guys get healthy.
Of course a lot of that depends on our OL staying healthy because our depth is frightening. [Reply]

I'll be honest, I was frustrated at how many times DHop wasn't on the field on 3rd down. And how many times he wasn't even looked at when he was. It felt like he was being used as a decoy so Pat could try and get one into Worthy or Watson or whoever. And the lack of targets in the EZ was infuriating.
But we won, so I guess that's all that matters. Offensive efficiency be damned, I guess. [Reply]
Mahomes running for his life, LT position has got to be improved by any means necessary, and for me it means bringing back Smith even if it is as a backup. I cannot believe how relieved I was when I saw Morris (Morris!?) coming back into the game in the 4th quarter. LT depth is a huge huge issue, it was before the season started and still is, it's gross negligence on the Chiefs front office if they don't improve it. It's going to cost us Pat for the season if this continues. [Reply]
Not much to add except that the four down DL weren't getting any pressure. You could put almost any QB back there with that amount of time and they will make you pay. TEs continued to be an issue. I didn't pay as much attention as normal because I was distracted with family issues however Mahomes had no time at all and they need to give up on the WR screen. It doesn't work...
Mostly, it looked like the Broncos had the Chiefs playbook and were getting away with a LOT of contact.
Similar to last week, the defense had the chance to stop the other team and instead they moved the length of the field and were in position to win. Call it good scheming or whatever, I call it very lucky to win this game. As a whole, the team didn't look very good. [Reply]
