Nzoner's Game Room>McCaffrey gets new deal averaging $19 million
RunKC 11:30 AM 06-04-2024
These deals this off-season have been nuts. Insane that he is higher up than Kelce in AAV

The 49ers once traded second, third, fourth, and fifth-round picks to Carolina for Christian McCaffrey.

In 22 total games with San Francisco, McCaffrey has totaled 2,711 rushing yards, 1,241 receiving yards, and 39 total touchdowns.

And now he gets a contract extension through… https://t.co/HXEnAGurul

I wonder who is going to bitch and complain if we don't give him a contract when his rookie deal is up. Is it 3 or 4 years for a 7th rounder?

4 years. This is year 3.

And then of course the fact that he averages almost 20 TDs/season.

It's a lot of $$$, but really SF had to pay him. Without him they weren't getting to the SB. He's the most important, and indispensable, piece on that offense.
For me it's not a question of what does CMC produce for that money, but whether you could replace 80% of his production with a player making 50% of his contract, or even less than 50% of his contract.

To me, yeah, in their scheme, they could, but they are on a rookie QB contract right now, so it probably won't hurt them as long as either BA or DS don't ask for $34 million dollars a year.

I hope the Chiefs never pay a RB that high a percentage of the cap.

That’s actually a pretty insane stat line for 22 games

I been saying this for a while. The team is loaded and he has an offensive minded head coach. When they pay him and they have to lose some quality players, I don’t think he becomes worth the $$ like the other top tier qbs in the league.

That's another thing: in CAR he played dinged up a lot, which led to all those injuries. In SF, they don't play him injured, because they don't expect him to carry the entire team. They have a lot more quality options in SF than CAR did when he was there.
Well don’t they still have Elijah Mitchell as his backup? That’s an insane backup to have. Dude was going like round 2 or 3 in fantasy drafts the year that CMC was traded to them.

I thought the same.

He’s had a really good career so far.

I get he is really good but in 8 years of his career he had 3 seasons he played less than 6 games a season on average and a season he played 11. So a 4 year stretch he playing 6.7 games on average. That's HALF his career.

There is a lot of risk involved in a 30 year old RB making $19MM a year.

Yesterday's White Knighting special was CMC. Today's is up for grabs!

Without McCaffrey the 49ers in 2022 were 3-3 and had 15 TD’s. With McCaffrey in 2022 they were 10-1 with 38 TD’s.

He’s by far their best weapon. Guy had 3X as many TD’s as the next weapon last year. He’s the best receiving back in the league and that offense changes without him.

Brock won’t have a big cap hit for 3 more years at least. They can afford to do this. And quite honestly he’s the only RB that should receive money like this.
