Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Indeed. Nice bar on one side with a decent beer selection most of the time and a New York type deli one the other side. Sandwiches are great. For a real treat, Jim's Alley bar is next door and will take you back to 1982 while you sip hipster beer.

So opinions on the following KC breweries?

I already know the heavyweights but want to try some newer/unknown-to-me places when I'm there in a couple weeks:

Vine St
Pathlight
Sandhills
Limitless
Boho
Transport

Also don't care about food, have intentionally left some off as they won't be open while I'm around and bonus points if they're IPA centric

TIA

Pathlight and Sandhills both get a big thumbs up. Also check out Friction.

The rest of the places you listed there are iffy at best.

Need to add BKS to your list in Brookside.

Friction is already on the list. I'll check out Pathlight/Sandhills.

I haven't been to Vine, have tried their beer. Meh
Sand hills was pretty solid, rock creek (I have never been) is very close by in Mission
Pathlight and limitless have been hugely disappointing (to me)
Transport is trying to get people to hate beer. How they opened another spot in Gartner is a mystery

Maybe try Discourse in OP?
If you go to Friction (I wouldn't), Servaes is across the street. Their IPAs aren't good (to me) but their stout game is decent.
Wild Child and Drastic Measures are cocktail bars in Shawnee (right next to Friction) and are absolutely fantastic

Picked up a tin at the brewery a few years ago, but hadn't ever tried it... great double IPA, had it on tap the other night, too, followed by Hoof Hearted $120 Nachos Triple IPA.

Lochiel Brewing is a real gem here in Mesa. Not sure I've ever seen a more neighborhood-y brewery. Their Scotch ale recipe is like 300 years old and incredible

Yesterday they sold me this 21.8% barleywine in a crowler :-)

Need to get back to O.S.H.O as it's been a while and really like some of their specialty beers.

Their North Scottsdale location, where I normally go to, was closed for a while for renovations and haven't been there since they reopened.

Sunday with no NFL games sounds like a good day to go.....
