Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Decent price too really. You may have saved $5 buying it on-prem in St. Louis but still.....Coco Vibes is a very tasty beer.

Also unrelated, found a far better stout for the evening...

Dude, how is it? The company I work for sells PA, and a lot of their stouts sound to die for.

Unfortunately, they're like $15 a bottle.

Next time I visit family in Wichita I might have to make the trek south and visit their brewery.

We just got in their 2XIPA Christmas, Tiramisu and Chestnut Praline up here in Wisconsin.

Maybe it's me, but all of their beers have a weird after taste. I can't really pinpoint the flavor, but every single one of them has it.

However, I'd imagine I'll be trying all three of these at some point. :-)

It's not a drain pour and at least it was only $18 for the 4 pack... but, this coming from someone hoping they reproduced some recent stout magic (narrator: they did not).

The first smell and sip to me was incredible.

But every sip after that was bland and boring.

Still love me some Boulevard though.

Yeah, they are expensive to the point of not wanting to spend $13 on a 12oz bottle, but damnit they're great. If I had my $18 back for the Blvd 4 pack I would have used it on another 12oz Parairie, heh.

Thick and chewy, mostly pumpkin and coffee (the Espresso Marty is fantastic as well).... a meal in a glass. I went to their taproom in OKC last year and it's absolutely a bucket list spot for stout enthusiasts.

And I hadn't heard of Southern Tier Chestnut Praline... my brother drove to KC from Syracuse and was on the lookout for Tiramisu and Moka, but didn't find any.:-)

I know we just got the ST holiday beers literally this week in Wisconsin.

I'd imagine they'll be available everywhere else soon, assuming where you live or brother lives they routinely get their beer in market.

Southern Tier's sweet beers are terrible. Cloyingly sweet in all the wrong ways. The last one I tried had a strong aftertaste of fake sweetener. Many, many other breweries make better pastry stouts than those these days.

Is that what that is?

I've had the Mokah on draft before and didn't have any noticeable after taste.

Everything else from them I've noticed it.

Very offputting.

That's what it tastes like to me. Don't get me wrong, they were doing the super sweet thing before most anyone else was but in the long run, it certainly doesn't mean they were doing it in the best way.

Haven't had anything from them in probably a decade. Pumking used to be tasty.
