Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Anyone tried Boulevard's Tiramisu Stout yet?

We just got it in the market up here in GB this week.

I'm intrigued.

While I'm currently drinking More S'mores.

So solid.

Not yet, but yeah a little intrigued.... Southern Tier kicked it out of the park years ago and I'm always a bit nervous about buying Boulevard stouts.

BKS 7th anniversary event today. They have 4x crazy (adjunct) stouts, released yesterday if you are in KC and into that sort of thing. Their Bonus Fortune release DIPA is money. Pun is both awesome and intended.

It's pretty mediocre, IMO... it doesn’t smell good and borders on smelling burnt. It's pretty light/medium bodied, not near their Magic Drip goodness. There's a little sweetness and the flavor is growing on me a bit, but wish I had found a single instead of a 4 pack.

It's not a drain pour and at least it was only $18 for the 4 pack... but, this coming from someone hoping they reproduced some recent stout magic (narrator: they did not).

If you all ever get out to Lake Tahoe, there's a local brewery in Truckee called 50/50 which has a great rotating stock of brews -- not a bad one among them. Top 50? Probably not, but still all great. If someone said they were the only beers I could drink for the rest of my life, I wouldn't be upset.

They do great BA stouts. I got wasted at their booth at GABF one year. Must've drank 10 pours of the Pappy 15 Eclipse.

Hit Trevor's in Scottsdale today, the little one without the driving range

North Park TDH IPA while watching Mizzou along with a single barrel pick and a BA stout

Phoenix doesn't have the most amazing local beer scene, but damnit they make up for it with the national distribution.

Thanks for the rec.... I love CP, some random mention of a restaurant in a beer thread and it's a few miles from an Airbnb on a trip to KC.

Brisket rangoon was great, had to get the Pad Thai Brisket for the perfect mash up of BBQ and Thai and wasn't disappointed.

Also unrelated, found a far better stout for the evening...

Talking about Buck Tui inspired me to make Pulled Pork Egg rolls for the game this afternoon. Cole slaw is pickling in some bbq rub pickle now.

How's the trip?

One underrated tap list is Barley's out in the burbs... there are two locations, but the one at 435 & Midland is usually pretty legit (I looked at OPKS the other day and it was pretty bad by comparison).

https://barleyskitchenandtap.com/shawnee/drinks/

They have a small Oktoberfest lineup (no idea of those are any good choices), a couple of Drekker sours, TG Caramel Apple Fandango, some local IPAs, Prairie Bomb and a really good pumpkin stout. Tried a couple of Pipeworks stouts/barleywine, but wasn't crazy impressed.

Also finally found the elusive Side Project Stout at Oak & Steel... Coconut Vibes. $45 for the bomber bottle, which is typically about $15 over what I'd pay for a bottle, but totally worth it for finding Side Project in KC (and I'm sure their secondary market is nuts).

Was at Fate's today for an early lunch. Candy Bar Milkstout on menu for Winter.

Had one with my burger.

Bought a 4 pack of Pueblo Vienna Lager to take home. Good beer for a hot or sweaty day.

Hmm, maybe they're hinting at bringing back King Sized this year. :-)
