Okay, here is a place for the Golfers to talk about tournaments, clubs, swing help or thoughts.
Today is the Players Championship, which I think ought to be the 5th Major. Largest pot in the PGA. The daunting 17th, which seems to bring excitement every year. At least we will get to see Sergio blow up yet again.
When Watson led the British Open after 3 rounds at age 59, he said that he was mentally and physically exhausted.
Of course he damned near still won it!
I hope that Phil can somehow find the strength and mental toughness to pull this one off.
It would be one for the ages and one of the great performances in Golf history!
Good luck Lefty!!
How do you get mentally exhausted...or physically exhausted playing...golf? Its golf. Golf is by far the easiest and least physically taxing sport Ive ever played. And they dont even carry their own clubs. [Reply]

I don't know if there is a sport were ones nerves play such a big role in the outcome. [Reply]

The course is almost 8,000 yards. That is straight tee to green. They don’t walk straight tee to green. Not even close.
So say they walk 6-7 miles a day. And not on a straight, flat terrain.
That is a lot of walking 4 straight days at 50 years old. Especially with the pressure of a major championship and the nerves it involves.
This isn’t an easy, beer drinking 72 holes at Bushwood Country Club. [Reply]

I’d guess not many could break 90 at their own home course
There are many people that are out of shape. I walk 25,000 steps including up and down stairwells every day at work. These guys are in physical shape as they do this as a profession. Now the mental part is different. The mental part will change as they get towards the top of the leader board. [Reply]

Having played competitively, it’s as much or more mental exhaustion as it is physical, and the combo of the two is very real. I hope I’m wrong but I can see this being a tough day for Phil. [Reply]

And they get to the course an hour or more before they tee off, hit probably at least 50 balls warming up. And consider they were in a midwestern time zone last week and now they're on the east coast. I've done that and it's brutal. Oh and don't forget the practice rounds early in the week or the after round practice.
I've played many a tournament and I don't care how young I was or how in shape I was I was always tired when the round was over. [Reply]
The wife wants to go to Charleston and Savannah for a vacation get away. I'm going to oblige but part of this trip will be playing the Ocean Course. [Reply]
