I mean think about it - ask yourself how you'd build a team to beat the Chiefs. Here's what I'd do (and honestly, it seems too ambitious to even pull off).
1) Big, athletic, strong armed QB. That's not Chiefs specific, it's just what you need. Chargers: Check
2) 2 aggressive pass rushing DEs who can win with speed and power. Also not specific to the Chiefs, but a little more damaging given that our strength on the OL is on the interior. Chargers: Check
3) A matched pair of complementary WRs who can operate underneath and downfield. Not exactly specific to the Chiefs but again, KC has a philosophy where they don't always invest heavily at CB and so this can be exploited a little more against them. Chargers: Check
4) An all-world Safety who can isolate and neutralize our HoF TE. VERY specific to the Chiefs and absolutely a Chargers: Check.
5) A powerful interior lineman who can help neutralize or at least modify how we use our best defensive player. Well shit...Chargers have THAT now as well. And with Corey Linsley to complement Zion, they have 2 guys who can do it which will allow them to slide protections to help no matter where Jones goes.
6) A premier pass catching HB. For years that was the way to attack us and while we have finally added enough speed to the defense to not make this quite as easy money as it used to be, it's still likely something that we'll need to resort to heavy Nickel packages to address if a team elects to make an emphasis out of it. Chargers: Check
7) A ball hawk CB who can make one of the 2-3 mistakes Mahomes will make in a given game (still far fewer than most QBs) really hurt. Well now the Chargers have that as well in JC Jackson. {Sigh}....check.
8) A strong LT to make the Chiefs play lefthanded defensively given that they simply don't have a complementary bookend pass-rusher (since Frank Clark ****ing Sucks).
I mean if you were given unlimited draft/cap resources just exactly what else could you add to the Chargers to make them a bigger handful for KC? A premier TE and maybe a true burner downfield. Oh, and a coach who isn't a goober, I suppose.
But man, when it comes to being a really REALLY tough out for Kansas City, the Chargers are absolutely built to a tee to give us fits. In a way that's almost difficult to fathom when you start to really dig into it.
It makes what the Chiefs have done against them over the last several years all the more impressive. And what happened last Thursday a little more understandable. They are a BRUTAL matchup for the Chiefs and very probably the dead last team I'd want to face in the post-season.
Don't forget about Asante Samuel Jr., who now looks like a pro bowler, and their 2 new defensive tackles in Sebastian Joseph Day and Austin Johnson. They're honestly the most talented team I think I've ever seen on paper. Their problem is injuries ALWAYS decimate the chargers & the fact Lombardi's offense doesn't properly utilize Herbert, it's mostly all dink and dunk. The pick 6 is the perfect example. They had 4 receivers out on the route and not a single one of them was deeper than 3 yards down the field.
Buffalo's achilles heel is they can't play man coverage. Going back 2 seasons they get totally lit up anytime they play elite Qbs. [Reply]

Absolutely. People only focus on the roster and ignore they have an absolute moron as a DC. Sure he shows up in the reg season but always gets embarrassed in the offs. [Reply]
Something else to consider with how KC and Buffalo have performed in the first two games has been their schedule. Buffalo played the first Thursday night game of the year and didn’t play again till last Monday. They had almost two weeks to rest and prepare for Tenn while KC played the late game against Arizona and turned around and on Thursday played against a Top 5 team in the NFL. [Reply]

You are aware Joseph-Day and Johnson suck right? Same with Van Noy. Samuel had a good game, but he was far from great his rookie year. I’m sure he’ll be good. But calling him a future pro bowler is a little early.
As talented as this chargers team is, they are no where near what the bucs were on their SB run. [Reply]
Has anyone looked at the Bills injury report? It's SHOCKING!!.
Hyde= got a neck injury in the last game and has not practiced all week. Now he's receiving a "second opinion" from doctors about the injury. Looks like that could be a big issue moving forward.
Poyer= was banged up in preseason with a shoulder, then left the field against the Titans with an injury and now has a foot problem which forced him to miss practice yesterday
Phillips= like i said before his hamstring Is banged up and he hasn't practiced all week.
Jackson= hasn't yet recovered from that bad hit on monday
Morse= got banged up on Monday and has been limited all week.
Settle= limited all week after missing the game on Monday
Oliver= limited after missing the game on Monday
White= still isn't back and may be a lesser version of himself this year coming off an ACL injury as we've seen with Thornhill
Davies= has a bad ankle problem which is an ussue he's had in previous seasons. A video of him on twitter yesterday showed him trying to run routes and pulling up in pain
We're TWO WEEKS into the season and they haven't even had a normal Sunday to Sunday schedule so far so they have had an advantage until now and still they are THIS banged up?
Injuries can pile up on the best of teams but this situation so early in the season is something to keep an eye on. [Reply]

So if they get healthier they’ll be even more dangerous [Reply]
