Appears they are wrapping up extensions now for key players, hoping to lock them in with a friendly number and then they'll give Von the guaranteed money he's asking for... [Reply]

I think paying a non-QB close to $20 million is detrimental to the hive. It's a violent position and all 3 KC pass rushers are currently nursing injuries.
If Houston plays every game during his contract, it pans out...when he is on the sideline, wasting a million+ a game...you give up the opportunity to hedge your bets and spread that money out.
Houston's contract will likely cost them Poe and S.Smith...which in turn, forces KC to spend high draft picks to replace them at a cheaper rate...that's the hidden cost. Smith goes to the Raiders and improves their direct competition.....so you not only lose picks...you bail out Oakland and save them a pick.
I dont like the math...and very rarely does a blockbuster deal pan out..from a pragmatic, fiscal perspective. It just appeases the fans... KC's blockbuster missed half the season/play-offs...and will probably miss the beginning of 2016.
So yes...please sign Miller to $65 million over three. [Reply]
Denver can afford to give their QB money to Von because they aren't paying a QB 17+ million per year like KC is. Alex Smith is basically making twice as much money this year as Paxton Lynch will make over the next four years. [Reply]

They can...but then they are hedging on Miller AND Lynch panning out. That's why I want him to sign Miller...Miller's franchise tag/pending deal already cost Denver the ability to sign Kap and also multiple picks to move up for Lynch. It's a double hit...now you have a back-up as a starter for 2016 and should be grooming Myles Jack.
When Berry was out..KC didn't drop off much...When Houston went down..they didn't miss too much either...are they better with them..yes. Are they $120+ million better...probably not.
I dont think Suh, Houston or Miller are worth the money... [Reply]
There's no doubt that mega contracts cripple teams with the cap, but they have to work the #s at other spots and that's what they're trying to do. Will it work out? Who knows. But, you can't let your big money young guys just walk, that puts you in a spot of rebuilding those parts of your team every 4-5 years.
Whatever happens, will happen and one group of us will be happy and the other, not so much. [Reply]

Chiefs sweep and win the superbowl last year without Vincent Kennedy Gooddell interference. What a screw job. Denver has a 7 win ceiling this year while KC has all the look of a 12 win team. [Reply]
