I just feel like everyone is going to spend all week talking about Mahomes' ankle or Burrow being a Demigod or Chase against this young secondary or Lou Anarumo being a psychopath...and then in the end it's just going to Samaje Perine bludgeoning Bolton and Gay to death.
It's funny that people want to discredit Mahomes because he finally has a good defense. As if defense wasn't 80% of the reason for Cincy's playoff runs.
When Mahomes has a bad defense, he still wins 12+ games. [Reply]

Comparably, he's mid in all the metrics in the playoffs other than passing yards where he's second to Mahomes. Even then, it's =/= to struggling. [Reply]

It's not that bad. I just want to strangle everyone on the coaching staff. [Reply]
Lmao Mahomes came into the league with the worst defense in the NFL. In his first year as a starter, with that 32nd ranked defense, he hung 5,000 yards and 50 TDs en route to winning NFL MVP. He lost to Brady in overtime of the AFCCG. A far cry from Burrow this year who is going to miss the playoffs.

He needs to be watching the game and giving input to the OC and DC about what he wants do do, vs what is and isn't working.
Lou has his moments but he's tied to that damn rush 3 drop 8 defense all the time and he's been burnt by it so many times. Giving up multiple 3rd and longs from the same scheme should be a clue that it's not working, but he just doesn't get it.
They're still way too pass happy and even though they don't run it all that well, they've had success with some things that they just don't do enough.
The entire problem is that they're all too stubborn to make any kinds of changes like these. They think, if they stay the course it will eventually work out. "Better execution" is a catch phrase but it's true in most instances. That said, there are tweaks they could do, but they seem unwilling to try them.
The rush 3 drop 8 defense works wonders against Mahomes, which is wild other teams carve it up.
I've never been a fan of head coaches calling the offense. They can't see on the field what a guy up high can see. [Reply]

I think it's because the Chiefs offense is so dependent on spacing. By flooding the back end with defenders, it gives the d line more time to get home. It's just the perfect scheme against a timing offense that hasn't had a great LT in quite a while. [Reply]
