The various movies obviously deserve their own threads once things actually start moving on them, but it seems like we should have a place just for general discussion about what they're planning. So here ya go. [Reply]
Speaking of.....I'm waiting to get a glimpse of the cosmic side in What If? since they've given us the Watcher (and Dormammu earlier). But, they're strictly adhering to established MCU stories and characters so far, and it's a little frustrating lol. Give me Galactus or Mephisto or Gladiator or Annihilus or any of the cosmic heavy hitters for crying out loud, already! Ha [Reply]

Infinity Ultron. Errrybody dead this time. Kinda weird how Thanos got taken down so easily considering he had 4 of the stones already.

That's the problem when you have a Thanos in your universe, narratively. He's probably more powerful than Ultron when they're both stone-less (Hulk pounded Ultron, and Thanos pounded Hulk), and now he has more stones. There's just no chance Ultron zaps him that easily, or defeats him at all. But you have to have a story, so it has to happen.
The Black Panther "What If" was also similarly difficult with Thanos. It's not impossible to believe that he and T'Challa could come to an understanding, but if they're both in a gang together, then Thanos is absolutely the maestro and QB of the team, not the other way around. But you have to have the story happen, so it has to happen that way.

Yeah, they created a bit of a continuity error with Vision killing Thanos so quickly (if at all) - Vision tried the same attack on Corvous Glave in Switzerland and Glave was able to deflect the power of the mind stone with his staff, but in this episode Vision slices a Thanos who is in possession of FIVE stones in half immediately after he portals in? That is one hell of a staff Glave has! Plus, we don't see how Thanos gets the Mind Stone since Dr. Strange wouldn't be with Tony and Peter and half the Guardians on Titan, etc. etc....
That said, still a great episode. They did a great job of unexpectedly combining the previous eps into a storyline. Very much enjoyed this one and looking forward to the next one. [Reply]
The crustier side of me has a hard time getting over inconsistent internal logic like that (the ravens who flew as fast as 737's in GOT are another example) and makes it hard for me to see the difference from What If to Fan Fiction.

I actually didn’t mind this. Thanos clearly enjoyed playing with his food and the stones haven’t been shown to have any passive effects for the user. I don’t find it outside the realm of possibility that this version of Ultron would just go straight for the nuke option right off the bat and catch Thanos off guard. [Reply]
