Elway has himself in a pickle....I doubt Miller returns unless he is the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. SB MVP is a good spot to be in when your contract expires....ha. Bronco's cap guy is notorious for low-balling their players...got used to the "Manning discount" and Horseface is a real prick when it comes to money.
I want nothing more than Von to rape faces when it comes to his contract...and Denver's only shot at mediocrity is that he plays. Public pressure is going to be heavy....he's a TV celebrity now. Could get ugly...he's going to easily command $20+ million a year.
DT carries a $15 million hit this year...ouch. I'm surprised they didn't restructure that to make room for Kap. [Reply]

So much for Elway being a "genius"....chickens are coming to roost. If he didn't knock this draft out of the park, especially with Lynch...you're looking at some lean years ahead. [Reply]

You're smarter than that and you should realize that many things change with cap situations and contracts. I'm going to go by history, both during the recent tenure of Elway as vailpass pointed out and going allllll the way back to Bowlen buying the team.
Sure, anything is possible. Your wet dream of Denver becoming the Cleveland Browns for the next decade could come true, but it's highly unlikely.
Denver has had 3 losing seasons since Elway retired (1998).
Denver only had 2 losing seasons during Elway's time as QB, so 5 losing seasons from 1983-2015 ... help me out, that's what 32 years? And, to make up for those 5 losing seasons - 7 SB appearances.
2006-2011 were some lean years
1992-1995 were lean as well
Team was roughly .500 combined during both of those stretches. There are many fans that have been staring at decades of combined .500 play and still hoping for the best. (looking at you, my friend) So, yes, the next 3-4 years could get bumpy, and that's fine ... it happens. Teams aren't on top forever and it's been a fun ride from 2011-2015 quite honestly.
I'm prepared for anything, but I highly doubt the cellar beckons. [Reply]

Von will get his money. Maybe not this year, but he'll get it. I also think he'll report on time. There is no advantage for him to not report or sign his tag. He has no leverage. [Reply]

Denver has the best home record over the past 30 years @ .700. It's the only stadium in the NFL where the opponent has to wear oxygen masks...and some players can't play due to the altitude.
Dont act like this hasn't played a part...only an extreme homer would pretend like this isn't a major factor. But since you're donko follower...I'm waiting for the rationalizations about how having a tired opponent doesn't really matter...and conditioning doesn't play a significant role in this sport.
You couple that with the most infractions for cheating in NFL history....then brag like it's been a level playing field.
