Nico Harrison: “We really feel like we got ahead of what was going to be a tumultuous summer, him being eligible for the supermax and also a year away from him being able to opt out of any contract. And so we really felt like we got out in front of that. We know teams, they’ve… https://t.co/MImEhuKP73

I'll be honest I don't know why. I watch TONS of college bball because of Kansas and most of the time it makes my eyes bleed. Then I turn on a Thunder game and it is a thing of beauty. Just the product is so much more graceful and skilled. No plodding players like Dickinson. No guys that can't shoot like KJ and if they cant shoot they are in the Bidunga mold and just fly around and dunk everything. Guys who can pass like Harris are everywhere. Then you have elite defenders on almost every great team like Dort and Wallace on the Thunder. The Mavs GM just traded a lazy guy who cant defend.
Its a lazy narrative perpetrated by old Jordan people who mainly haven't watched the game in 25 years. Ive watched this game from 1995 to now and it is wayyyyy better as far as the product and on the court talent. Now the huge euro influence has not helped and the lack of marketable American stars has hurt but I have no idea...NONE...how you would prefer the dead ball era of 1996 to 2005 or whatever better than what the NBA is now. I think the peak NBA product was around 2015 and old white fan claimed they didnt like it either yet didnt watch to see.
I thought I was crazy for having this take and went back and watched an NBA game from 1998 from the regular season and holy shit it felt like watching college basketball. It was awful.
Unfortunately the NBA has marketed themselves into a corner. I dont think they can get the old man fan back. I think the play is honestly expand into Europe and be a more world brand than they already are. They do as well outside of the USA as they do domestically. [Reply]

You obviously are a minority in this way of thinking so the fact you act like todays game is so much better is just you being biased.
NBA today sucks in my opinion. It's hard for me to watch unless it is live. Most people actually like watching some defense, some physicality, and not a 3-point shooting contest for an offensive gameplan.
So I slept on it and this is still the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in the NBA. Can’t imagine it happens if Cuban still owned the team and called the shots. The GM responsible for this will never run a team again after he inevitably gets fired in the next year or two. [Reply]

Ahhhh. Yeah I figured he still called the shots. Doesn't he still own like 25% of the team? [Reply]

Damn shame what they did to the game.
You liked watching Bill Lambeer maul people instead of being able to play defense and move their feet?
They used to put the slow white guys like Scott Skiles and shit on the other teams best player to guard. It was hilarious. They had no business or the physical ability to guard guys like Jordan or Magic.
The avg FG percentage in the NBA is HIGHER now than it was in the 1970s. Let that sink in.

Probably going to be the best thing ever for Luka long term. If he's any competitor at all he's going to have a massive chip on his shoulder and completely change his eating habits and conditioning. [Reply]
This is nuts they couldn't call ORL and get Paulo and a bunch of picks? At least he's in the east then so you dont gotta see him 4 times a year.... [Reply]

Or literally any team in the league and gotten anything you asked for considering Luka is the 3rd best player in the league in his prime? Utterly absurd to run a NBA team like this. [Reply]

I, too, enjoy seeing a slow, plodding team like the Steelers face off against a smooth, masterpiece team like the Chiefs.
If you think defense isn’t played in the NBA, you’re really just parroting outdated takes you’re seeing on social media. [Reply]
