In a QB heavy draft, they could have used their pick to draft a stud, now the get to watch Seattle draft said stud with their pick :-)

Denver's issues are all 100% fixable. And they will be fixed. Soon.
How and when?
Cap space... nope
Draft picks...nope

When you have the number of knee injuries the Broncos have had at WR, it's pretty easy to see that there's something in the guys they're scouting that leads to it.

Russ is the same guy he's always been he just can't run around and throw it up to big WR's anymore.

I don't know. It's a head scratcher for sure. I think it's more about strength and conditioning.

I've said this many times, some people just refuse to believe Russ was slipping in play in Seattle 2 years ago.

He would put up some garbage stats and make a really pretty deep ball throw every now and then and people think he was the same old player. He hasn't been a top tier QB in years, that's why the compensation was freaking outlandish yet Denver did it anyway.

It's possible. But he's what, 35? That's not that old by today's standards. Of course, as i mentioned earlier, he has taken a ton of hits, and big hits are cumulative, so maybe he is just breaking down physically. maybe even mentally.

But in 2020, Russ threw for 40 TDs/13 INTs, or about 4:1 TDs/INTs, which is exceptional, as you know. Even last season his ratio was 4:1, at 25/6.

And didn't he get hurt kind of early last season? His arm/elbow or something, I don't know.

He still can and does, but he needs to learn to play from the pocket and part of this is he is working on that.

Yes, he's going to, in year 12, improve his pocket presence.

He's never been a good traditional pocket passer. Now he doesnt have other things to lean on.

Are you at all concerned that the Panthers will take the early lead for Sean Payton from the Broncos? Hard to believe a coach got fired before Hackett.

Sure, if it was a one for one swap.

But I don't think it took hindsight to wonder if maybe in a several of years, Lock plus a bunch of high draft picks plus a hundred million plus additional salary cap space might not be better than a declining Russ.

It would certainly be easier to walk away from.

Although I guess getting stuck with Russ has ended the Denver carousel for a while.

Broncos don’t have the draft picks it would take to pry Payton away from the Saints.
