Wanya Morris was drafted with pick 92 of round 3 in the 2023 draft class. He scored a 8.35 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 215 out of 1294 OT from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/KnzoH8NdfSpic.twitter.com/KZgxtMNcfb

The potential of the Smith signing was too good to pass up. I get it. I don’t blame the Chiefs for trying it out. But now they’re at risk of having a question mark at LT for yet another year.
Maybe a little bit, but I think we've seen enough from a tools standpoint to say that if we wanted to move Taylor to LT, we can. He's showing those fast feet and good athleticism.
As you noted, Smith was just too damn cheap. At that point, you add the talent and the rest is Future Andy's problem. [Reply]

“He's going to be OK – we're just going to give him some time here to rest up and go. He was doing a nice job when he had the opportunity."

If the staff hasn’t made a change yet, then I don’t see why they would.
I think you just roll with it and get your weapons back healthy to relieve some stress. [Reply]

he hasn't been very good.
I don't think the Chiefs have much in cap room, that red headed beard dude that youtubes said the Chiefs have 225K in cap room. So we're probably going to ride it out with him. I wish Kingsley would have earned the start over Wayna by now though. [Reply]

Taylor has been playing very good the last few games at RT at least. A rough start to the season but he doesn't let Mahomes get hit and I don't think he's been flagged in the past 3 or 4 games. [Reply]

You earn starting positions in training camp or with snaps on the field. In season practice snaps are not going to convince coaches to put you back in.
If Kingsley wants back in this season, Wanya is going to have to majorly biff it or get injured. [Reply]
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but swapping out lineman, especially LT, isn't something you can just do on the fly and it works. Even if you somehow traded or signed another LT and swapped him in, he'd need time to gel with the line and get on the same page with Mahomes before he'd become helpful, and we're already 9 weeks into the season.
I'm not opposed to getting a better LT since we could clearly use the upgrade, but I think it's too late at this point. And if they truly felt Kingsley was better and trusted him to take back over, he would've done so by now.
People are expecting these LTs we've been acquiring since 2021 to play like Willie fucking Roaf, and that's just not realistic. Probably not ever going to happen during the Mahomes era. When Fisher went down, that was likely the last of the top 10 LTs Mahomes would play with in his career. We'll see if Kingsley can blossom into a great player, but for now, he needs refinement and more time.
Morris is the best we've got. He's not allowing jailbreak rushers every other play. There are a few, sure, but overall he's fairly adequate. He's not terrible. He's not Cam Erving.
People need to accept it and move on.
And for God's sake, no, Wanya is NOT worse than old fart bad back Donovan Smith [Reply]

Eric Fisher is 3 years younger than Trent Williams.

Wanya is the guy, for better or worse.
Yeah, I think it's a bad idea to start all over again. Mahomes has looked more comfortable the last 3-4 games. Just keep working on OL & QB chemistry as time goes along.
Keep working on the chemistry with newer WR guys such as Hopkins & Xavier. Get some weapons back from injury (JuJu, Hollywood, Pacheco) and that will help too. [Reply]

ya you're probably right.
Wayna is obviously struggling at times, but we're winning with him and these reps in games should help him improve. [Reply]
